Well, I started a blog.  I have so much swirling around this head of mine to cope with, I just decided to write. It's always been my way of coping.  If my blog helps anyone else then that's a bonus: https://younameher.wordpress.com

  • Hi , thanks for sharing your blog where you chronicle your personal experiences.

Writing can definitely be a great way to process how you're feeling, and it's also a handy tool to record what's been happening so you can look back and see the challenges you've already overcome.

I had a look at your blog and I thought it was an engaging and accessible read. I also liked the inspiring quotes section. You might like to consider adding the blog link to your forum profile to save you linking it from your forum posts. For a guide on how to do that, please click HERE.

Alternatively, if you feel like it would be more streamlined, you can always transfer your first couple of posts to the Blogs feature of our site, so it's all together with your profile. If you need help getting started with the Blogs feature, please check out the 'Creating your own blog' section of our introductory guide HERE, and our Blog Help Pages too.

    All the best,
    Matthew

    Hi EndoCanc,

I have just read your blog and it is brilliant. We have a lot in common - same stage cancer - is yours in lymph nodes? Plus my eldest son is on the spectrum, your description of growing up resonates with him/me.  I look forward to reading more of your journey. When is your op? You mentioned London so I take it you are at the Royal London? I had my op there too. x

Oh and we are both dog lovers. I think I prefer dogs to humans to be honest lol x

  • Hello Slight smile

I'm happy to hear you liked my blog. It does sound like we've a lot in common.

My pre-op is on the 30th and the op soon after, guessing a week after. It'll be at the Royal Marsden.

Dr said 5% chance in the lymph nodes.  I wrote an additional post last night in the early hours. I only slept 4 hours. The anxiety of this is getting to me.

Did you have yours at the Royal Marsden?

I prefer dogs to humans too. I did have two dogs, lost my other to oral cancer in August. I was very close to her and miss her every day.

This probably sounds pathetic but I'm more scared about navigating and finding my way around London than I am the op.

We should stay in touch. x

  • Hi EndoCanc

I enjoyed reading your blog it’s really good ! I had my operation at the Royal Marsden in London it’s easy to find it. Where are you coming from?

    Linda

  • Hi Linda - I'm coming from North Surrey area.

  • I live in Wimbledon the Marsden is easy to get to if you can get to Wimbledon. Where in North Surrey? I see the surgical team at the London Marsden and the oncology team at the Sutton Marsden. The staff have been absolutely amazing at both centres. My hysterectomy went really smoothly I had a lovely surgeon and was really put at ease by him and his team.

    Linda

  • Now you mention it, I'm not sure if it will be the Sutton or the London one.  What surgeon did you have?

  • They do all the gynaecology operations at the London one. I asked to go to the Sutton one for radiotherapy as it’s only 20 minutes for me. I had Mr Heath who was lovely and very reassuring. My oncologist at Sutton is Dr Hin.
