Does anyone else have experience of dermatitis and very itchy skin after chemotherapy, radiotherapy and brachytherapy? If so, what helped please? I’ve tried various creams, steroids etc but still suffering.

Thanks

  • Hi Twinnie

I normally have eczema and sensitive skin and it definitely was affected by chemo. It was dry, irritated and sore.

I used my normal emollients but just in higher amounts.

I also found tamanu cream and tamanu balm from tropic skin care really good. I used the unscented shower gel. I normally use Tropic Skincare products and they seem to suit my skin.

During radiotherapy I used tamanu balm in the areas that can become sore through treatment and it helped.

It may also be worth looking at laundry detergents and changing to something non biological like Fairy or similar.

I would suggest talking to your CNS/doctor to see what they suggest if it does not improve.
