Hello all

Just had a phonecall from my consultant with pathology results.

Stage 1b, carcinoma sarcoma with evidence of lymphabastic space invasion. He said it hasn't gone outside of the womb.

I will need chemo and external radiotherapy. No brachytherapy

Feeling overwhelmed

  • Hello Jane2511

It's always worrying getting the results,  on one hand you wonder how you are going to cope with a diagnosis,  it's all too real. I didnt know whst type of cancer I had till my pre op,  I was sure I had grade 1 Adenocarcinoma,  so when I asked the surgeon he was quite surprised that the diagnosing hospital hadn't told me the cancer type,  when he said High Grade Serous I was shocked and started reading statistics which didn't help me at all....I used to look at things and think ' Will I see this again, will I be able to enjoy the garden again 'Etc.

But now I'm focused on my treatment,  getting through it and living my life as normal as I can without worrying if I'll  still be here next year!

You have to look at the positives and think it hasn't gone outside of the womb.  They also told me this  it's contained but they're unsure of Lymphovascular space invasion because of the type of cancer and how it sneakily spreads through lymph system   so on the air of caution I'm taking all the treatment offered and after that I can say I tried everything.

Keep focused on the next step in treatments and yiu will get over this stormy period in  no time at all. X

  • Hi  I can understand how overwhelmed you feel. Just take comfort in the fact most of us have gone on to have (or we're in the middle of) further treatment. We all manage to take it in our stride once we've got over the initial shock. I'm always amazed how strong we are and manage to face these hurdles and come out the other side saying. "Well it wasn't that bad!"

I'm chuffed to bits because I can see 5 o'clock shadow on my head so I my hair is starting to come back after chemotherapy ! YAY!

Let us know when you get more treatment dates and in the meantime take a look at the Chemotherapy support thread and Radiotherapy support thread inc brachytherapy threads for feedback from the members.

    Sending hugs, Barb xx

  • Hi  I have the same as you Carsinosarcoma and I finished my 6 cycles of chemo last week, I am now waiting for a date for a ct scan to see how the treatment has gone.  My tumour was contained to the womb but some managed to sneak into two pelvic lymph nodes, I had a scan half way through chemo and the nodes had started to shrink a little.  It is overwhelming but once you get into the routine it gets easier. • Thank you. Its understanding all the language they use to explain it. My mac Millan nurse has just phoned me and been very supportive. Just trying not to consult google!

Its all very overwhelming- feel like I have had the carpet pulled out from under me

  • Thank you- I only had the hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. Didnt have any symptoms prior to a bleed on 14/3/22. Was operated on 4 weeks afterwards. Its all happened so quickly. Today I feel like the rug has been pulled out from under me!

  • I understand how you feel, my journey has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride.  I was initially told I wouldn’t have it because I’m too young then I was told I had it then I was stage 1 2 at worst then I was told stage 4 because of the nodes in my pelvis and a nodule on my lung and an enlarged node in my neck then after surgery I got changed to stage 3 and my neck and lung haven’t been mentioned since. • Hello Jane2511

Bless you, its alot trying to take everything in when your trying to get over your hysterectomy. I had my operation on the 8th April and saw my consultant with my histology results last Thursday too.

I have been told that I will see the Oncology team this Monday to talk about Chemo and possibly radiotherapy, so I know how you are feeling. Give yourself time to digest the information that you have been told today and be assured that you have the support of all of us and you CNS team. Don't worry about all the terminology, it's amazing how much you pick up just reading the posts on our group chat I have found that the ladies on here are amazing and never mind being asked to clarify what they mean if iam unsure about something they have said.

There are a few of us about to start Chemo/Radio so we can support each other. Also we can rely on those who are having treatment currently or have come through it for their pearls of wisdom Iam sure.

Sending you a big hug, your not alone.

  • Thank you Robin- it feels just as I am starting to feel a little better from the hysterectomy - I get the phone call saying its carcinoma sarcoma. Strangely when they first said to me I had womb cancer I managed surprisingly ok. I think it is because I naively thought the operation would sort it. Never even heard of carcinoma sarcoma! I don't know yet when I have to go in to see Oncology again. Part of me just wants to get on with it, part of me needs time to digest it all

  • That is totally understandable as you say its such early days after your op, so just give yourself time to digest the information you have been given and once you have your head around it I'm sure you will start feeling ready to take on next stage on the road to getting back to normality.

Be kind to yourself, its alot to take in Jane.

Thinking of you, I'm here anytime if you want to chat please feel free to add me to your friends list if you want to.
