Hi Xxnataliexx. Oh to be young again! Sorry I can't help with an answer, sex has been off the cards for years, what with his hips and osteoarthritis LOL. Mind you I swapped the dilators for a battery operated toy and sex has never been so good.

I’m still not able to face having sex yet, 11 weeks after surgery, because I’m also terrified. Thankfully my hubby is a patient man
Same there is not much information out there on sex after hysterectomy xx
Hi Xxnataliexx
i found this https://be.macmillan.org.uk/be/p-25405-sex-and-relationships-support-for-young-people-affected-by-cancer.aspx on the b.macmillan page now some of it isn’t relevant to us but there is some interesting points in it especially near the back pages. It maybe of interest but worth a look and you can search other topics there too. The most important thing about having sex after a hysterectomy is being comfortable and ready and the booklet does explain about a few changes we experience,

My consultant said no sex until 3 months after surgery (TLH BSO) so as to allow the vaginal cuff to heal properly and avoid risk of infection. I'd had brachytherapy about seven weeks after the op, followed by 4 weeks of daily use of dilator so at least felt like my innards were healed ok, and that I didn't have a prolapse. It's now 4 months since surgery and we have cautiously resumed our sex life :-) My partner is very patient and considerate so that's good. The most challenging bit is that my right hip has been very painful since the day of the op, and I have nerve pains in groin and legs (probably from the lithotomy position they put you in for surgery).
Hi Dreamweaver sorry to hear about your pain, i hope it resolves it’s self very soon

hi again Xxnataliexx,
has your consultant advised you about sex, your CNS should I hope be able to give you some help too. It is important to allow things to heal up down there you wouldn’t want to rush into it and cause any issues. One of things i was told because i was 38 after my hysterectomy is that I would be slammed straight into the menopause and the booklet i link explains the effects of the menopause but also the other effects the mental side of things too, which is just as important. Once you are allowed safely to have sex, some advice a bit extra lubricant to cope with the dryness and if there is any narrowing too involved, which i had in my case I was also told about exercises to help widen the area up, dilator use etc. Like I said before it has to be when your ready and i am sure that they will understand that you may a bit scared and or uncomfortable and to go about it gently there is no rush, it’s important to enjoy the experience.
