Hello ....I know what I am to ask is not a blip in the ocean when faced with the C...however I am curious to see if anyone else has or had experienced this.
4th week post op and forced menopause.
Luckily I have a lot of hair and it's very thick. Being 40 I have been having grey hair...strands of for a while....
However since the op my hair has changed loads.
The texture has gone really dry and wire like, the greys have come out in force.
My skin on my face went incredibly spotty and now is also really dry.
I drink plenty of fluids and do all the usual things I should.
Is this the lack of hormones/ menopause this quickly?
If so any rescue remedies out there for hair???
Xxxx
Hi Birdie, you know this is a really good question to ask about. I have found that my skin and hair changed a lot after my hysterectomy and again being young 38 at the time i too had to deal with the surgical menopause and maybe its the sudden drop of hormones that causes the problems. It took a while and you may find you need to experiment too but I found using more natural soaps and shampoo much better for me. I use lush products now after going in and asking their advice for shampoo, conditioner the solid bars and the hand soaps to shower I wanted to try it first before I brought too much, but I also found they did a nice solid lotion which seems to work a treat but its rather expensive but the shampoo bar you only use a small amount and it lasts a while so maybe it balances out. I know I saw on amazon i think faith in nature brand which is pretty good too and i hear its based in Manchester. There is probably others out there but i be honest it’s what i use now although mostly lush and my hair feels more soft and healthy it went through a stage of falling out and being dry and greasy until I found a product that suited me, I would recommend maybe trying out different products to see what suits you and once you find one that suits you will feel more comfortable and confident about your hair and skin I know it took me a while but i am so glad I found something that suits me and i am using less plastic so I suppose kinda for the environment was an added bonus for me.
Hooe you find something that helps you

Hi Birdie,
I'm guessing this is all hormones, or lack of them. I can't say I remember much about my skin or hair during my menopause many years ago. I did notice that my usually curly hair went straight just before I was diagnosed with thyroid deficiency not long before my operation! Since taking thyroid pills its back to its curly self!!
As for skin. I am fair skinned, and used to have ginger hair. I have trouble with chapped hands in the winter. The ONLY cream that sorts it overnight is Johnsons baby cream!!! I've tried all sorts, some expensive. As Gbear says, you just have to find what suits you. xxx
