Hi all
After my brachytherapy I was sent home with my "gift" a pack of 4 dilators and 2 tubes of lubricant together with a very comprehensive booklet. I was to start using them 2 weeks after my last session to keep the vagina supple and stretched to enable future internal examinations to be easy. After brachytherapy there may be scarring and the vaginal secretions can dry up.
I'd always had problems with smear tests due to a stenosed cervix. Also not had children. I started with the smallest and hated it, felt so alien, couple of days later next size up then a week later the 3rd size. Still look at horror at size 4!
Anyway, I'd decided earlier in the treatment if I was going to do this I was going to grow old disgracefully. So at the age of 67 bought my first vibrator! Peter Rabbit arrived and I also looked at him in horror! Tonight I decided to give him a trial run. OMG I've had more fun than I've had in the last 20 years! Hubby & I co-exist in the same house and that's about it.
I had my first orgasm for about 20 years and then another! This little thing has 6 different settings and I've only tried a couple!
I'm so sorry if I offend anyone by writing this but felt I had to share this bit of light at the end of the tunnel (literally) Those of you that have got to know me realise my way of coping with the C word has been my sense of humour. Tonight I confess I've got a grin from ear to ear.
This is the best bit of the roller-coaster ride so far. I'm only supposed to use dilators for 6 months but I think Peter Rabbit will be in service for longer!
Big hugs to you all
oh MrsBJH you made me giggle out loud! But I totally agree that in order to get though this all we need a sense of humour. Glad that they are working and at least giving you some light relief. Its such an important part of recovery and especially after having brachytherapy.

Barb,
you are a breath of fresh air. So glad you have found your rabbit, having fun and a grin on your face.
I second your ambition to grow old disgracefully.
After a life time of looking after and putting others first having the cancer diagnosis made me realise that I deserve to be top of my list I am looking after me. Had a massage and went swimming and walking today. I am planning to retire end of May and am looking forward to many new adventures.
Best wishes and a big hug coming your way.
Honey
Still got a grin on my face
