  1. Hello all, I Had my surgery on 09/17/2019 at age 46.  Grade 3 stage 1a. Had 5 sessions of brachytherapy. My husband and I are sexually active. My last visit to the radiologist was 09/30/20. The doctor took several swabs/ samples (I agreed to participate in a study  of radiation effect on genital environment) that had blood on them - the doctor said that some of my blood vessels are very close to the surface  and it’s common after radiation. Overall, he said everything looked good. Since then I had sex twice and both times when I wiped after the intercourse the tissue was pink. It’s been more than 2 weeks now. Before this doctor visit the tissues were not clear, but also were not that pink. I am wondering if anybody else was experiencing the same.
  • Hi Ella-_b, I see that you haven't had any replies to your message so I thought I would respond....not that I have an answer to your question. As you have probably read a lot of us are still post op or waiting for surgery, so sex isnt really on our agendas! But it is an important topic, especially if you are in a partnership.  My only advice would be to speak to your nurse or medical team. You might not want to bother them, but really if you have a worry then it is not something trivial, it is something you are concerned about and they are there to help. So, give them a call.  Hope that being told to call them by someone else will convince you to do it! Good luck.

  • Hi  with  do speak to your nurse about this. It’s worth them having it on record so they can monitor the situation. Our mantra here is always “when in doubt, get checked out” so do share your concerns with the nurse and she’ll hopefully be able to put your mind at rest. Take care x
