Hi I realize this post is a few years old but I was wondering if anyone has gone through this. I am 32 years old and had a baby 10months ago. I didn’t get a period for the 8months and I assumed it was because I was breastfeeding. I stopped at 8months and immediately started to spot which later became a period. I bled for 10days heavy with clots and it stopped. One week later I had sex and while it wasn’t painful the bleeding started again and has been on for over a month and got heavier for the last one week. I was asked to combine anti inflammatory with a traxenemic (not sure I got the spelling) to stop the bleeding but it just clots the blood and the bleeding is still on. Had an ultrasound done a month ago and my endometrial lining was 20mm before all the heavy bleeding. Had another one done recently and still 20mm. They have me scheduled for a biopsy and hysteroscopy in April but I keep wondering why they can’t bring it forward. Also I have PCOS and I assume it got worse with having a baby and the added weight. Just going crazy over here and hoping to talk to someone thanks.
Hi Moondi, I was doing a wee look at my emails and this subject came up my endometrium is 24mm and has stayed the same for nearly 20 months even with horrendous bleeding this last load was nearly Month's off and on and by this I mean stopping a couple hours to stopping for one day my bleeding was like mini hemorrhage's with large clots.
I am 60 yrs old married with one daughter who has empty nested me and her dad I have ordered have not due to the menopause one says not any more one doctor says yes and have endometriosis plus fibromyalgia plus disabled I was diagnosed around May / June 2022 my bleeding would occur when I got stressed sometimes after sex but it's only this past year 2023 - 2024 the bleeding has been none stop because I am obese the surgeon and Anesthetist won't touch me until I lose some weight once I lose some weight he is going to put a camera in to see if he can access my womb tubes ovaries and cervix. Less on me what about yourself any insight into how long you have to wait for your appointment or phone them asking to be considered if any cancellations to get the ball running.
Hi Moondi, how are you doing? I had the hysteroscopy in March and they took some samples and came back with the results that it was nothing but I needed to have a good bleed so that was a relief.
I know it’s hard but try to relax and wait for your appointment. It might just be nothing.. are you having any other symptoms asides the thickened endometrium?
Hi CC,
Thanks for your reply. I'm happy it worked out well for you.
Well, I've been bleeding since November, with a couple of days off which I noticed are during ovulation period. Which I find odd. The bleeding is not as heavy as the first 2 days but not light either. I wouldn't call it spotting.
It took ages to get to the GP appointment and then get the referral for ultrasound and now the follow up appointment with the GP and then the results back which have not been yet reviewed or discussed with the GP as I only got an appointment next Tuesday. The conclusion of the Ultrasound report says I need further investigation and seen by a gynecologist, so a lot of waiting.
However the thickened endometrium explains the irregular bleeding and the lower back pain which started many months before the bleeding. Also sharp, knifey pains in legs when I walk more them 8k steps. The wait is horrendous and too many what ifs.. as you siad last year.
Oh and I've just celebrated my 41st birthday so.. I don't think I'm pre or perimenopausal.
Were you given any treatment?
Hi Wilma,
Thank you for your message. You are strong and seem to have a plan. But does your GP or doctors support you in anyway to lose weight? It's easier said than done and they need to help you with that.
The way the appointments work at the surgery I'm going is a nightmare. Unless you ask for a specific GP they push you from one another. There's no GP that would take the responsibility of your record and follow up. I've had the ultrasound on the 08/02 they said 3-5 days for results. After a week I started enquiring the surgery for a follow up and results and they answered me twice that the GP hasn't reviewed them yet and will get back to me the following week when they do. Following week, the same.. until I asked for a follow up appointment and only manage to get a phone one next week. They finally uploaded the results yesterday where I could see the notes from the measurements team.. I don't know why there's no urgency as bleeding for 90 days and constant lower back pain is not a walk in the park..
Also, if you can remember, how long it took to get the hysteroscopy results back? And has the bleeding stopped on its own.. I mean from my understanding it's bleeding because it's too thickened and needs to clear out.. but it's only stopping during ovulation.
Hi Moondi,
I have support from the Oncologist Gynaecologist Dietician who is very understanding, I am diabetic so it's been hard adjusting insulin to stop the hypos but the DNS has kept in touch and I also got a phone call from the consultant.
My problem is I am an emotional eater but as I said to the lovely Nanny Bear I have stopped buying ice cream chocolate and biscuits except chocolate digestives ( I take one to three a day as a treat) crisps was another thing but I buy Watsits or Qvers as they only have 89 calories)
As for Doctors surgeries they are a total joke and not a laughing one either ours use EConsult and that's a bloody nightmare in its self like you it took ages at least 4 email's that the diabetic nurse specialist sent regarding a change of medication the surgery kept saying they never received it I think the nurse eventually phoned them and the same thing has happened front the Nurse Specialist from gyna to change my Provera (male hormone) from 10mg x 3 daily to 50mg x 3 daily.
As for your results ask what GP is reviewing them and state you want to make a complaint to the practice manager as you certainly feel you need an urgent appointment not gyna and that your health care is not being taken seriously, sometimes you have to poke the bear to get what you need if you feel no one is listening, Where are you from as I think the English Health System is different from the Scottish as I was put on the TWO WEEK FAST TRACK and all my appointments have been really quick.
