Endometrial lining of 20mm??!!

Hi I realize this post is a few years old but I was wondering if anyone has gone through this. I am 32 years old and had a baby 10months ago. I didn’t get a period for the 8months and I assumed it was because I was breastfeeding. I stopped at 8months and immediately started to spot which later became a period. I bled for 10days heavy with clots and it stopped. One week later I had sex and while it wasn’t painful the bleeding started again and has been on for over a month and got heavier for the last one week. I was asked to combine anti inflammatory with a traxenemic (not sure I got the spelling) to stop the bleeding but it just clots the blood and the bleeding is still on. Had an ultrasound done a month ago and my endometrial lining was 20mm before all the heavy bleeding. Had another one done recently and still 20mm. They have me scheduled for a biopsy and hysteroscopy in April but I keep wondering why they can’t bring it forward. Also I have PCOS and I assume it got worse with having a baby and the added weight. Just going crazy over here and hoping to talk to someone thanks.

  • The bleeding stopped last weekend and it’s been one week now and nothing but I don’t think that puts my mind at ease. I have all these symptoms that make me feel it’s spread or something. Two days after the bleeding I was so bloated. I have had lower back pain for 2-3days, rectal pain, abdominal pain sometimes when I pee, feel something move in my stomach (I hear you can feel it move???), currently having the worst flu of my life and I can’t help but think it’s the cancer??? Because I never get the flu. Plus I have the shittiest luck. Had to have 3 miscarriages, 1 ectopic pregnancy and 1 still birth at 21weeks before I was diagnosed with incompetent cervix and had this baby and now that I feel like I could give him a sibling, I get hit with possible cancer??? Life’s so unfair..

Anyway what symptoms do you have aside from bleeding if you don’t mind me asking?

  • What an awful time you've had, I'm so sorry you had all these problems having a baby, and then to have all this on top of it. I know it's not something to be thinking of now but even if you're not able to have more children naturally there's always other options. very close relatives of mine had similar issues, eventually after many years of trying had a son, but then couldn't have another child so adopted a wonderful little girl, so don't give up hope on having more children even if the news isn't what you want to hear.

I know what you mean tho, every ache or pain is so easy to put down as being related to what's going on. I also never get viruses, but had flu this year, but I'm sure it's just because you're rundown with worry. The main symptoms I had were obviously the heavy and very prolonged bleeding (only had a few weeks of not bleeding since June), I seem to have a continuous ache in my right pelvis which sometimes is quite painful and radiates round to my back which I'm assuming is the large ovarian cyst, and feeling tired all the time. GP was great and did loads of bloods, turned out my tiredness was due to low vitamin d levels which she said was very common even in Portugal where I live, so she put me on high dose d3 which has made a big difference to the tiredness.

hello, I think you need to go back to them as in reality a lining that thick as far as I was told you should be on a two week list and seen within that two week period. I had something similar and I was seen within the two weeks, had the hysteroscopy and biopsy and a coil fitted to help reduce the bleeding and I was told the coil is good for treatment for other things while they wait for any biopsy results. So if they won’t bring your appointment forward is there any way of having the coil fitted in the meantime at your doctors to try help you?

m it’s easier said than done but keep positive and if it is the big c then let’s hope it’s easily treatable but there is no saying that’s definitely what it is. Mine turned out to be polyps and atypical hyperplasia. Which is treated with the coil and regular biopsies. It’s so easy to say don’t jump to the worst as everyone is saying the same thing to me but please get onto your docs get them to hurry it up for you to get some answers (also on a side note don’t have unprotected sex a week before or they won’t do your biopsy!)

  • You are right, every ache or pain and my heart goes straight to the what ifs. I should stop googling haha. There are many options and what can worrying do at the end of the day?

Hopefully time goes by fast and we are able to be seen and get the right help.
I’m sure we would talk sometime in the future, do take care.

  • Thanks for sharing. I am seeing my GP again to refer me to another gynaecologist as this present one seems not to care much. Didn’t offer anything apart from saying wait for the biopsy. Maybe a new gynaecologist would have something else to do. Thanks for the tip haha keep in touch.

  • Haha, yeah doctor Google is definitely the worst. I hope you have some luck changing your Gynaecologist and hopefully get one that's more understanding. Take care

  • Hello, how are you doing? Just checking up on you. Were you able to see a gynaecologist as scheduled for the end of February? It’s still a waiting game on my end..

  • Hi CC,

Really sorry I didn't reply before, only just seen this message. I did see Gynae, they were brilliant, spent loads of time with me, did another transvaginal ultrasound which showed no thickened endometrium (phew) but she was concerned about the size of my ovaries as they were both large (she didn't say cysts). She referred me urgently for bloods, and arranged to see me again at the end of April. When I looked up the blood tests I could see all 6 tests were checking for different types of ovarian cancer, so scared myself silly over that. She also put me on the pill. Then last week, a week after seeing her I had to go to the emergency department in the UK as one of the cysts burst. I hadn't heard about the blood results so messaged the consultant and just heard back today that they were all fine, so huge feeling of relief here. How are you getting on now, have you heard anything about your appointment?

  • Oh wow!!! So happy for you.. that’s good everything is all cleared up now.. I got another gynaecologist and was given an end of March appointment so we’ll see.. thanks for responding and I hope you Blushntinue to do great Blush

  • Hi CC,
