Hi anyone got any experience of this? Recently (Last week) advised I have this and there is basically nothing to be done. Seems to be very little info and certainly nothing positive.

any help or pointers most welcome indeed!

  • Dave, sorry they have found something else, hopefully the change of treatment will help to sort that out too.

my mum said she was going to hang her mask on a pole at the caravan to scare the children away lol

im not sure what to do with mums mask now, I don’t want to throw it away but not sure I want to be reminded about the cancer taking her, on the other hand she was so brave doing the treatment, she was so proud of herself when she rang the bell

  • Paint it rainbow colours!

  • Thank you for showing a photograph of what the mask looks like I have often wondered @Dave H.  Hope the treatment is going well x

  • A little update 5 weeks into chemo and radiotheraoy. - cistplatin b egg Jung the second chemo as I was allergic to the first Docetaxel. Wasn’t pleasant!

coping ok generally, obviously as expected some major swallowing issues but have not needed a feed tube. Just increase use of oramorph liquid penicillin and a numbing liquid before trying to eat called xantacaine.  Biggest advice is to heavily use the Flamingel cream from day 1. It’s only really this past week that my skin has started to really break down and today is like a massive boiling water scald right across the neck. But I’ll take that if that is all !

  • Hi Dave, glad you’re getting on with the treatment now, we used cream on mums next after each treatment luckily her skin didn’t breakdown. Definitely take the meds to numb your throat for eating, fingers crossed it works, we could see on mum’s neck that it was shrinking it, keep positive, take care

  • Hi, my mum has just been diagnosed with Anaplastic thyroid cancer.  I can’t believe that nothing can be done.  Initially they said that the cancer was treatable with surgery but now saying that the inevitable can be prolonged with chemo just can’t believe it.  Is there any advice Pray tone1.

  • Hi Castle79,

Im so sorry to hear your mum has this horrible cancer, unfortunately from how my mum was the only advice I can give is do as much as soon as possible, please don’t wait to make memories do it now, mum couldn’t have chemo she didn’t have the part that chemo could attack, ive just done all the prep ready for tomorrow that mum would have done and it’s so hard without her x

  • Hi Trace11

Thank you so much for responding.  I am waiting to see if there is Chemo that my mum can have that responds to the cancer Pray tone1 to gain some time but may I ask how long your mum lived from diagnosis?  I am so scared.  I can’t believe this is happening Cry    Sending you love & best wishes at this time of year xxx

  • I am sorry to hear this. It’s awful but don’t give up.

despite everything they said to me in July I’m still here. Thinner, a bit less hair, but I will be enjoying a Christmas dinner tomorrow.

ive had extensive radiotherapy and cistplatin chemo. It was tough but not overly tough apart from radiotherapy burns and the throat pain internally but this has almost gone now, 5 weeks after treatment finished

juat got to wait now to see what effect it has had…

    tell Mum to try to

    keep positive
