Hello,
I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in January, and underwent total thyroidectomy by neck dissection in March.
Life since then hasn't always been the easiest, struggling with managing my calcium levels which has resulted in several hospital admissions due hypocalcaemia.
In the last couple of months or so I have been experiencing symptoms similar to those prior to my diagnosis, and have also noticed a growth in my mouth.
Despite these worries, I am terrified of being told my cancer has returned, and was wondering if this anxiety will ever go away?
Hi ArchiesDad,
Thanks for sharing with the Community, it's an important topic to talk about. I think cancer return anxiety is a very common and understandable phenomena. I have no doubt that many Community members will relate to what you're saying, so you are most definitely not alone in this.
I hope you don't mind, but when I saw your post I couldn't help think of a Community Blog we published earlier in the year. It talks about managing worries like this, plus it has some links to good sources of practical and emotional support:
I hope you find it useful while you wait for some of our other Community members to share their thoughts with you. You're not alone!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
