Feeling annoyed with everything

Hi. I've had testicular cancer twice now (kind of), and just feel so much more annoyed / angry most of the time, often without a real reason. I initially found a lump in early 2019 and had it removed, with a prosthetic put in it's place. Then just before Christmas a CT scan picked up that it had spread to several Lymph nodes, so I had 3 rounds of BEP chemo' starting on New Years eve, and running through to the end of February 2020. I was really lucky and didn't really have any side effects other than hair loss and tiredness, and seemed to bounce back quite quickly (until the whole shielding / lockdown thing came about, but we all know about that!). Since the shielding ended and I went back to work (3rd August), I've found myself quite annoyed a lot of the time, with very little patience for anything, and that is not normal for me - I've always been very laid back and easy going.

Has any body else has similar experiences or feelings? I'm not annoyed at anything or anybody in particular, but my mood is definitely worse than it used to be. Thanks.

  • Hi Dan

I had one removed in April and chemo in May. I still get periods when I feel irritable and unsettled and a bit snappy sometimes. I put it down to chemo brain hangover effects.  Mood swings can be a symptom of hormone imbalance. Have you got any other symptoms of lower testosterone levels?

I find that making time to get out on my own to enjoy my hobbies (photography, fishing, kayaking) sets me straight again.

Worth a chat with your GP or specialist nurse I reckon.
