My dad got diagnosed last week and is awaiting op, I have spoken to the Dr and she said it could be up to 2 weeks before his op, just wondered if this is normal? Dad told me last night he feels like the tumours are getting bigger and the discomfort is spreading so I’m panicking so much that the cancer is spreading and there’s nothing I can do to help. Should I keep calling the Dr? Or just wait for him to hear? He’s a typical bloke and so doesn’t want to talk about it too much, so whenever he tells me something it must be really bad! I just feel helpless and want to do as much as I can to hurry this along. If anyone has any advice I would be so grateful!!
Hi Laura
That timescale isn't unusual. It's also quite normal to get a bit paranoid after a diagnosis and imagine negative things happening. Hard to say what you can do to help. The facts are that the cancer isn't going to progress significantly in this period, and he will get great care, and the prognosis for this type of cancer is good.
Best wishes
