Hi everyone
i had orchidectomy surgery 9 days ago, after my left testicle had swollen up the size of a lime. For months leading up to it my lower abdomen was bloated and hard which iv now read is a testicle cancer symptom. CT scan showed no spread and surgeon was hopeful they’d got all the cancer and I’m waiting on biopsy results. As soon as I woke up from surgery, this had gone away, and was completely back to normal. I assumed must have been related to testicle tubes of cancerous testicle or something like that. But on day 6 this has returned. I can’t find anything on internet that reports anything similar.
I spoke to GP on phone who reckoned most likely unrelated and maybe mild IBS but it’s the fact it completely disappeared then has reappeared that’s making me very anxious and worried.
On day 5, day before the return of abdomen bloating, the wound also swelled up a little and went numb which extends to top of groin. Kind of a burning pain when I move after periods of not moving. This hasn’t improved really at all. My scrotum also went from being quite tight to loose. But Iv read this could be normal reaction or hematoma.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to the abdominal issue as I’m worried this is a bodily response to the cancer still being there and gp not taking it seriously enough. Although could also be related to surgery, possible infection, post surgery bowel issues or completely unrelated.
Thanks for reading, this forum has been a great anxiety reliever for me over last few weeks.
Hello Senseoftumour
I hope you do not mind me replying as I had a different type of cancer but am hoping by doing so it will bump your post back to the top.
I am sorry to see that you have had a diagnosis of testicular cancer needing surgery. I can understand why you are concerned about the swelling and abdominal bloating. As you have recently had surgery perhaps it would be an idea to contact your CNS/hospital and ask to be checked- if only for a bit of reassurance. I am sorry that you feel your GP is not taking it seriously enough. I feel at the very least you need to be seen for a face to face appointment.
These symptoms could very well be normal after having such surgery, but they are clearly causing you to worry so best to get checked out for some reassurance.
Hopefully someone will now see your post who has experienced a similar symptom and will be able to share some more advice. In the meantime if there is anything else you need, please do not hesitate to ask.
Jane
