Possible forearm sarcoma.

Hello everyone I'm new here and really need some support right now.

About 3 weeks ago I saw that my forearm was a little swollen on one side. I felt around a little and found under the swelling a small pea sized ruberry lump. It seemed to me attached to the muscle as it does not move at all when I try ro move it but does move around when I flex. The skin above it seemed normal. It also changes consistency in a way. Sometimes when it seems bigger it feels softer like it has fluid and when it's smaller is seems hard. It's weird.

Of course I googled and almost had a panic attack reading about sarcoma. I waited for a couple of weeks and when it didn't go away I visited an orthopedic surgeon. He felt around and wasn't sure where exactly it was. He said it didn't seem attached to the muscle because when I move my fingers it doesn't follow the muscle.

So he send me for an MRI just to see and while he said he was nit really worried I am terrified. Everything points towards sarcoma and I recently developed a cough which is worrying.

I'm so sorry for posting here. I think I need a little bit of support since everyone else in my life thinks I'm being dramatic and catastrophising too much.

    Hi

I know you are bound to worry and think the worst but this could be a simple lipoma...these are common...so try not to worry. The internet always scares us. It's great that it's being investigated and most lumps are found to be nothing untoward. I have a lipoma above my knee...also like a pea size and feels attached. I had an ultrasound on it to confirm it's just a fatty lump...again sometimes feels larger or smaller but I think that's just fluid in the leg around it going up and down.  Try to distract yourself while you wait and if you have any questions please come back here

  • Hi! Does yours feel attached to the muscle bellow the skin? My skin moves freely above it.

Yes google can scare you to death. In this case there is nothing except sarcoma when I google hard, painless fixed lump Sweat smile

Hi sorry for the delay my reply often goes in spam. When I move the skin above, the skin moves but not the lump. Think mines just attached to fat

  • hi! How are you getting on and did you have your MRI yet? I understand your worry and concerns and I don't think you're being dramatic at all. I'm waiting myself and it's a terrible feeling. I hope you're doing okay.

  • Hi, I can see you've been in touch with Traci22.  I've just written to her myself before I found this.  I hope you've had a good result by now.  Everything, including results, seem delayed these days, but try not to worry.  You can do that when and if you get a bad result and even then it might not be so bad to deal with as you think.  Good luck anyway.

  • Hi Martie, just wondered if u could share  how u got on. I have similar hard pea size lump on forearm. Sits just under skin but seems  fixed, attached to muscle same fears as you, waiting for ultrasound but wonder whether to push for mri, did it give u a proper diagnosis? Feels hard and solid, no pain or redness,  and possibly a little larger than a few weeks ago. Best wishes. Many thx Ox.

  • Hi, I have a very similar lump, did you guys get a diagnosis?.Hope all was ok with you

  • Hi Sunny24

I had an ultrasound on a lump in my forearm last week, they are discussing it in an MDT today as I have a previous history of Leiomyoma sarcoma (Though previous surgeries were in the vulva). I have had a few scanned over the years which are soft lipomas, the one I have now is a hard lump with pain. Hope you get a good outcome

  • Hi  Fortunately mine was a benign lipoma. My dermatologist offered to attempt to remove it and she told me she wasn't certain she would be successful as she didn't know how large or deep it was. I had waited months to get in to see her so opted to let her give it a try. She was unsuccessful and I wound up with an orthopedic surgeon who was able to fully remove it. I went with a light anesthesia as I found the procedure in the dermatologist's office to be quite nauseating and anxiety producing. There's a scar and otherwise I've made a complete recovery no more bothersome lump. Wishing you the very best possible outcome!

  • Hi Martie

Hope you are doing well. I too have the same kind of bump on forearm

What was the result from the MRI.
