Hi,

Can anyone who has had BCC removed from their nose and slightly to the side, reassure me that it didn't look flat all the way around after 4 weeks?

Its really flat on the side on my nose, but the skin is 'bobbly' on the crease of my nose going down the nostril, maybe this is where the surgeon finished stitching?

I am really worried that I am going to be left like this as its really unsightly. I have bought gel from the Internet and have started putting silicone plasters over it for the recommended times they are saying - day 3 now - hoping it will flatten it.

I am feeling sorry for myself as its not easy to hide on my face, unless I carry on wearing face masks forever!

Now I feel bad as I know there are much worse things that people are going through, if it was on my arm or leg it wouldn't be so important  to me.

My surgery was on my cheek rather than my nose but the difference between 4 weeks and now - three months - is huge. It was very lumpy at 4 weeks and is almost flat now. Hope that helps a bit.

Thank you for answering to me.

I am panicking as it doesn't look very good at the moment, but am hoping it will flatten out like yours, given time.

I have a 1st appointment back at the hospital on the 15th Nov, so will get some feedback then. I think it must of been bigger than they expected as they said the would need to cut away the size of a penny, but it's more like a big 10p.

    Best wishes

  • Hi . Just another reassuring word, in the hope that it might help. I had what’s prolly a BCC removed from the side of my face, next to my ear, a few weeks ago now. The scar was a lot longer than they’d told me it would be, and for a week or so while the scabby bits were falling off, it looked rather alarming! A couple more weeks down the line, though, the scabby things have come off and it’s healing amazingly well. Even now I think people wouldn’t see it unless they looked closely, and I know it will continue to improve. I’m sure yours will do the same. FWIW, my GP’s practice nurse told me to put Vaseline on it to stop it from getting dry. That’s all I’ve used, and it’s looking as though it may have helped.

    Thanks for replying to me.

Hopefully, I am worrying unnecessary, and it will flaten given time.

I was using an eye cream the hospital gave me after the Op, then they advised E45 for my nose and Bio oil or vaseline for the donar site on my collarbone.

I have been reading up on the Internet and discovered the silicone plasters and someone on here advised to use Medical gel, so am using it all at different times of the day.

Thought its worth trying anything Slight smile

  • Hi Harley,

I can confirm what the others are saying. 4 weeks is early days. What will really make a difference is to massage the site. Gently at first (but only if the skin is fully healed) and then work up to a more vigorous action. Massage on dry clean skin and without any oil. Put your cream on after the massage. Do this a few times a day. The skin will become more supple and you will restore the normal contours of your nose.

(I have had 3 BCCs on my nose, one just behind the tip, one behind the tip but to one side and one in the crease.)

    Take care

Thank you for answering me Slight smile

I will take your advice and keep massaging the area until the contours return.
