Hi, and a very warm welcome to the group!

I don't know about you but I quite like the start of Autumn as soon I won't have to plaster myself in sunscreen before venturing outside as the UV rays become less dangerous!

If you haven't posted yet and want to ask a question just click on '+New' which you'll see in a black box near the top of the page, or reply to this post. There are people here at all different stages of skin cancer so lots of experience available.

Another way of looking for information is to use the search bar at the top of the page to search for old threads covering what you're looking for.

The online community is here to give peer to peer support, so don’t forget to join in with posts if you have experience of something mentioned or are in a similar position, and don't feel that just because someone has replied to a post you can't join in. The more the merrier!

Sometimes you might not have any experience with what is being asked about but you might feel that that you know or appreciate what the poster is going through so a kind reply and a gentle, virtual hug is always appreciated.

If you haven't yet completed your profile when you have a minute could you pop something about your journey so far into it as it really helps others when answering. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Thank you latchbrook for the welcome to the group. Only had the lesion/spot removed from the back of my shoulder on tues. Tender still and itches like mad. Trying not to get anxious about the biopsy results, but I am being treated for anxiety anyway!

  • I doubt anyone in this group hasn't felt anxious at some point while waiting for their results , so you're in good company! As you're being treated for anxiety I'm sure you already have some good coping strategies in place. I found indulging my hobbies kept my mind focused on something other than the results.

Do you have an idea when the results should be back?

  • Yes it is an anxious time waiting isn’t it, my husband just keeps saying it’s nothing to worry about it will be fine!

I am walking the dogs a lot and I am an artist as my name might have suggested haha, so that helps distract me.

My gp said about 3 weeks. I am trying not to do all the usual googling etc.

    xx

  • I did wonder if you might be an artist but I've learnt not to assume things from people's usernames otherwise you can end up in a pickle!

Definitely stay away from Google! There may be lots of information out there but it can be very outdated or even wrong. If you want to find out more information about the various types of skin cancer then stick to reputable sites like this one or Cancer Research. You can, of course, ask the members of the group anything you want to know and we'll answer based on our experiences.

  • Hi  and welcome to the group, although I'm sorry you've had to find us.

I've just had a look at your profile and can see that you've just had a possible BCC removed. Plenty of people in the group have had this procedure so lots of help available if needed.

Do come back and let us know the outcome of the biopsy

    PS. Love the username!
