Hi everyone. Just popping in to say hi. All my info and journey is in my profile but briefly -  appendix tumour (accidentally found) August, right hemicolectomy October and now starting chemotherapy on 5th December. Scary news but swiftly tackled by my local hospital and lots of reassurance given. I'm lucky I had appendicitis which highlighted the tumour or who knows how long it would have grown there. Anyway, anyone else had experience with oral capecitabine 2g for 8 cycles? I'd be very grateful to read your experience with the side effects. I'm a little scared of them to be honest. Thank you for reading and suggesting this group

  • Sorry to jump in but I feel exactly the same. I’m having surgery at my local hospital on Monday to remove my appendix as a CT scan showed an “anomaly”. Don’t know yet if it’s cancer until it’s been sent off for testing. But there’s be no mention of referral to Basingstoke. I wasn’t worried until I started reading the Facebook forum.

  • Hi Bev99,went through same as you in 2020,appendix with tumour, showed on scan was sent off to basingstoke for testing came back as localised mucin escape but not of cancerous at that time, now 2024 feeling unwell, been fast tracked by doctor for scan got a cancellation offered to me after 6 days on xmas eve,now waiting to hear from specialist if its poss pmp or something else, been on my mind all xmas break, fingers crossed its nothing serious,i wish you a good outcome try not to worry but its easier said than done,i cant bury my head into work as all on holiday until 6th jan so im keeping busy odd jobs around house/walking the legs off our little dachshund !!.

  • Thanks. I don’t know if it’s better or worse at Christmas. In the lead up I had lots to do but these last few days have been tricky. My husband (whilst he has been great) just wanted me to forget about it and enjoy Christmas. Very unrealistic. But he’s trying his best, and we all cope in different ways.
I had an appointment yesterday with the colorectal nurse who went through everything incase they need to take some of my bowel when they get in there.
I hope all goes well with your results. Please keep us posted on here. Best of luck

  • I put my post on the new here section around 12 days ago if you want to read what i went through in 2020,will update you & all when i get results, take care for now.

  • Just thought I’d let you know they successfully removed my appendix on Monday at the local hospital. Everyone was lovely and the treatment I have received has been first class. They said my appendix were very large but they removed it one piece and it was all enact. No leakage to my abdomen- although I am still anxious about that. They’ve sent it off so just have to wait and see now if it had turned cancerous. Surgeon said let’s wait and see before we discuss anything else. I’m home and sore but I’m doing ok. They didn’t need to do a right hemi or remove anything else so that is a relief.
Hope all goes well for you next week.
    take care
