Will be starting my salvage RT next week. Should have started 2 weeks ago by my consultant wanted a second opinion on my PET and MRI scan results.
The team who looked at the results couldn't see anything that would indicate the hotspot was a concern BUT recommended that they treat it anyway whilst I get the prostate bed and lymph nodes blasted.
They still can't see where the cause of my PSA rise is coming from.
Hello Towersaf0ffd
Radiotherapy isn't too bad - it's parking at the hospital and hanging around that takes your time up. Just in case you haven't seen it here's a link that may help:
What you wish you had known before starting Radiotherapy?
Like you I have had rising PSA and a biochemical recurrence, and although I still have my prostate the scans are unable to locate the exact source of the cancer. It's not bothered me as my treatment is reducing the PSA levels - it just makes me wonder why they can't locate it!
I wish you well with your treatment.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Towersaf0ffd OK, it looks like your team are well on the case. I assume 6 - 12 months hormone therapy and a nuclear blast of radiotherapy through the pelvic area. Hopefully the stray cells will be swept away and you can get on with your life. As Millibob says, the hardest thing is parking at the hospital. The cameraderie of those going through the same thing as also something I remember with some fondness. AW
Similar story to my brother, who had salvage RT after his PSA rose following RP. That was 15 years ago and, apart from some minor damage from the older RT delivery method, he’s been clear since then. Hopefully, with a more modern machine treating you, you will be fine.
If you haven’t already seen it, here are other people’s experiences of radiotherapy for PC.

Got my 2nd zoladex injection next week as well.
At the moment, that is all that is planned
Just had my latest PSA test back. Just the 3 monthly one.
Latest is 0.35, down from 0.59 in January.
Had my second hormone injection aswell
3 days in with my radiotherapy treatment, so things moving in the right direction
