TX staging confused

Hi all.
To my understanding all advanced prostate cancer is stage T4 but I’ve been told I’m TX.
I have found a few bits on Google but all related to other cancers and a bit contradictive.

Any ideas?

  • Hi  ,

I am not a person that can answer this directly, but sometimes I can find stuff on the internet, and found this which might offer some guidance:

    https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/diagnosis-staging/staging

The section marked "Primary Tumor" describes what it means.

Where the heck we go with that information I don't know. I am sure someone will along who does.

Perhaps a good way would be to call the MacMillan Support Line on 0808 808 0000, get as much information as you can from them and then ask your oncologist some pointy questions.

  • Hi !

Well actually advanced is more a term if you’re diagnosed with metastesis outside pelvis, in bones and etc (Mx). Locally advanced is therefore locoregional mets in pelvic lymph nodes (the N1). It’s not usual to have for example a T2 and still have Mx but, with prostate cancer anything is possible Disappointed

I think the Tx is something like, one probably have elevated PSA, biopsies have shown Gleason scores but then on for example MRI it’s not conclusive the primary tumor for some reason.

So a strange state I must say but hopefully they will do there best to make sure you get a accurate diagnosis

  • Hello

As far as I am aware the Tx is given to anyone where the true staging can't be established and more investigation is required - I must say I have seen it in the "M" or "N" but this is a first for me being in the "T".

I am sure it will become clearer as your journey progresses - please do keep us informed.

    best wishes - Brian.

  • Thank you GentlemenThumbsup

Most helpful between all your posts I think I’ve had a lightbulb moment.

The staging was given to me only 7days after my initial diagnosis and at the time was still waiting for more tests, scan's and biopsy (still not got the biopsy results)

After reading a lot of stuff on here I now release I was super fast tracked and received my hormone injection that day. 7 days later I agreed my treatment plan. As of today I had a second injection started my hormone tablets and spent Thursday morning sat in a big blue chair.
I have a telephone appointment on Tuesday and will ask.
Thank you for taking the time

  • Good Morning Ian (

Now that sounds like you have a great team

I now release I was super fast tracked and received my hormone injection that day.

Most Community members go along for 3/4/5 months from first seeing the GP to starting treatment. It look like your team realised how you were and started treatment from the get-go.

Indeed the same thing happened to me and I was placed on Hormone Therapy from almost day 1 (you can read my journey by clicking on my user name or avatar). You can update your profile and like me use it as a diary - to start on your home page click on the chair - top right - then "profile" and then "edit". Once you have written something don't forget to click on "save".

I don't know what your meeting on Tuesday is but you may find this link of use:

    QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR TEAM

Keep us posted as to how you get on.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • I found the following, check it out and good luck.

The TX staging in prostate cancer refers to cases where the primary tumor (T stage) cannot be assessed due to a lack of information or inadequate imaging/tests.

Here’s a breakdown of the T staging in prostate cancer according to the TNM system (Tumor, Node, Metastasis):

    TX

    • TX: The primary tumor cannot be assessed (e.g., due to insufficient imaging or biopsy).
  • Morning Brian.

They are fantastic I’m very lucky I thought it was the norm until I joined here my heart goes out to some of the waiting people are put through. The only waiting I had was 3 Weeks for the chemo chair and that was bad enough can’t imagine what it would be like for others.

Thanks for the link. Although I got my days mixed up and it’s not until the 24th I blame the pillsWink

  • Thank you.

Makes sense now and clarifies what I was thinking now.
I’d been on Dr Goggle and found all sorts Rolling eyes

Including “ Tumor too massive to measure “ That one made me feel so much better WinkJoy
