Decision made. I’m pT3a, N0 M0 (see my profile for details ). My extensive research points to a combo treatment of HT / RT / Brachy (NHS and NICE approved). MDT met again a couple of days ago and their recommendation (without my input) was the same. I had a consultation at Addenbrookes yesterday with a top prostatectomy surgeon and he agreed with me that my decision was the best one, as surgery would carry at least a 30% chance of recurrence. So I collected my prescription on way out! I took my first bicalutamide tablet taken this morning…..so the treatment is underway. Just over 62 days (NHS target) since GP referral so well done to them after a thorough diagnosis. I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders with regards to timelines (chasing the NHS, politely!), but I’m under no illusion that the next few months of treatment will present challenges. My wife and I are a strong team and we intend to take everything in our stride and, hopefully, this curative pathway will prevail. Here we go…..wish us luck!
I had a Ford Escort Mk 1, (worth a fortune now, but mine rusted away!).
I then had a Opel Manta 1900SR (Mk 1, with the round tail lights).
Both cars had the obligatory “go faster” stripes down the side

Glad things are going well. My first PSA was 0.1, result today. So going correct way, early days! Hot flushes, if anything, got worse in the night, but,it has been alot warmer weather. No other problems, still getting mucus in poo, thought it had stopped, but, seems to have restarted. Good Luck, enjoy life!
Hi all, it’s nearly a month since I posted on my thread, and I thought I would share my excitement about tomorrow…. Since my diagnosis pathway which started in July 2023, I have fought hard to stay fit throughout my treatment. Once my brachytherapy and external beam radiotherapy was completed, Mrs AW and I hiked the Cleveland Way in Yorkshire, did some weekends away hiking, and most recently we led a group in Menorca. However, I have missed my beloved Alps terribly. Well, Mrs AW has gone up north with her Mum, sister and brother for a weeks holiday so……
Tomorrow I fly to Bavaria for a weeks hiking in the mountains at heights up to 2,000m. I’ll be staying in a traditional Alpine guest house. I think I will be a bit emotional tbh, because as well as my PCa battle, I lost my dear Mum in Feb this year - so much has happened since I was last in the Alps. My rucksack is packed and I’m catching the 0805 train to Heathrow. I can’t wait… AW
Have a well deserved break AW
Best wishes
Steve

Hey Alpine Wanderer
Cracking post - made me cry (bloody hormone therapy!!).
You are a winner - keep up the good work and enjoy the Alps as a fantastic reward for all the good work you do both for your family and the Community.
It just shows how a positive attitude works................
Kind Regards - Brian.

After this past year, I shed a tear of gratitude for the NHS, remembrance for Mum and joy for my first alp since treatment. This was nearly 1,000m straight up from breakfast, with a 30 minute scramble to the airy top. A fine peak - the Aiplspitz.
Absolute magic - I just can't fault you. You are an inspiration to us all.
Kind Regards - Brian.
