dear Kate and all,

I promised admin that I’d clean my act up and keep my interminable waffle in a separate thread....so others don’t have to read it. This was in another group.

Anyway, lovely day everyone. Chemo is being pretty rough on me below the waist. Haemorrhoids. Walking funny!

If anyone has any tips for this problem, please let me know.

    Evening everyone

Squeaky I’m so pleased all was well. I hope they can get to the bottom of what caused it but good to know they didn’t find anything sinister.  Are you feeling ok? These dark days before Christmas don’t help, they make me feel a bit gloomy. I’m definitely a sunshine girl.

Oh Pepys what a crappy decision to have to make. I know it’s not the same as my mum only had Gemcetibine which being so mild didn’t cause her too many problems but she did say she felt much more like her after she finished it. She had another 5 months after they said no more chemo. Any news on the granddaughter yet?

I hope everyone else is well and getting sorted for Christmas, it seems to get earlier each year.

I’m having a proper day off tomorrow and going to the theatre to see Calendar Girls. It will be 6 months to the day since my mum passed and it was our thing going to the theatre so I thought it would be a nice way to spend the day.

    Take care everyone xx

  • Good morning

It is still dark here in Scotland and it’s a windy wet morning.

Lady P, I hope that anti sickness medication has kicked in and you are feeling a bit better.

Kate, have a good day off. The theatre is my thing too and was a great interest of my Mother’s

Everyone, I hope you have a good day.

Have a shower, put an antibacterial  cream on your hands, bend over and gently push it back in. Wash your hands again!

  • Caroleho

    pardon?

Hey Caroleho. I have to agree with Squeaky on this one. What did you just 'say'? I'm not bending over & pushing anything anywhere!! I'll need a cup o tea first!!!!!!

    Dear Squeaky,

regret to say that ondansetron just didn’t work yesterday, my first day. I was violently ill at around 1am and am just feeling totally desperate.

it occurred to me that if I stop eating earlier in the day, I might forestall sickness. It’s worth a try, I think.

Yesterday was my first dose of vinolrebine. I suppose it would be too much to expect that I don’t vomit on the first night?

Ill do a search on the Macmillan site to see how I can tackle this problem.

Hey Lady P. I still don't know what Carolhoe was going on about the other morning. Made me laugh though. But like i said. I don't care what time of day it is. I'm not sticking anything up there!!!!

i'm sorry to hear you're still feeling this awful sickness. I know how frustrating it can be. Always there. (Like the tax man!!) i like some of Woody Allen's films. I think it was a scene in Annie Hall. He felt awful. Sick & unwell. He started eating some plain chicken. While his Dr was sitting next to him on the bed, thinking about ordering some tests. While Woody, quite happily tucked into his chicken. I agree. Just plain, unspicey food is good when you're feeling so delicate. Warm milk is good to just calm the stomach. Plus 'they' seem to rave on about peppermint tea. Mint is good if you're feeling ill.

i've been having an emotional time (as usual). Last werk i had an apoointment at Moorfields. (Uveitis). They checked the pressure behind my eyes. A bit high in both. They wanted to get a grip on the inflammation. Offered me a deeper injection in the eye. I whimped out. Had a deeper 1 yrs ago. Horrible. I declined. They offered me steroid tablets. I didn't want to look like an alien over Christmas. (Made me moon faced before). So they said stick with the hourly steroid drops until my next appointment in December.

I went away. Annoyed with myself for not having the guts to have the injection. Plus i was so nervous about my vision. Forward winde 4 days to Friday. I was scared the vision was even worse. So i pushed myself to go. Boy was i glad. The pressure had gone up by 20 more. It was 45 in the right eye & 26 in the left. It was 50 in my left 4 yrs ago & they operated. Even the Consultant was concerned. So on Friday i had to be assessed for the operation. ECG, blood pressure etc. I was so emotional in the waiting room. I know me ma would have been with me. My blood pressure was sky high. My GP has put me on a short course of antidepressants & a beta blocker for my bp & emotional stuff to calm me down for my op on Thursday. I've been having the most awful headaches. Plus they put me on these tablets called Diamox, they lower the eye presdure. They also use them for mountaineers. for altitude sickness. Quite interesting what drugs can do. Feeling nervous & a bit 'rubbish'. These pills make you dizxy & give you tingly fingers & toes & even made my nose tingle!! Strange. I need to cheer myself up. So i might buy something. (Laying off the cream cakes for a while!!) Might buy something girlie. Like a dress. Anyway. Good luck Lady P. Hope you can ease your sickness. I'll probably be coming out of Moorfields with a bloody big eye patch on Thursday. Not exactly a sexy look. But oh well!!! Mail soon. x

  • Good evening

Lady P and Vixen, you are both having a difficult time and I know everyone on here will be sending you warm thoughts. I hope things take a turn for the better very soon.

Thank you Squeaky. 'Means alot. * I know my 'stuff' isn't life threatening. But it isn't half a bugger!!! I was reading reviews for another big eye hospital. The Western Eye Hospital in Marylebone. Don't like the sound of the staff at all. Although the waiting at Moorfields is never ending. I'm very lucky. It's only 1 bus ride away for me. I met a couple that had to come over from Liverpool!! Plus another couple from a little village in Cornwall. They had to use ferries & trains to get to Old St. I use the 243 & i'm thrre! Plust at Moorfields. When it's your turn. They never rush you. They are very thorough & you feel safe & sure tgat they'll spot any changes in your eyes. They're very attentive & sympathetic. They genuinely seem to care. Where as, the staff at the Western just think of it as a job. No empathy.

Oh well. I'd better go. Trying to improve my diet. Plus i've got about 4 pills to take. Leaving my place at 11. I might take a cab. I have to be at Moorfields at 12.30. They're inserting a shunt into my right eye. (Whatever that is). I've asked for a light sedation & local anaesthetic. I don't want to be knocked out. The last time i had the Trabeculectomy  in the left eye. My lovely surgeon talked about a bike  riding holiday he went on with his son. Talked about the beautiful sunsets they saw. I even joined in the  converstation. Then the surgeon told me to hold still & flushed some water imto my eye. I didn't feel a thing. I felt lovely & relaxed & floaty. Like i'd had a few whyskies!!! It was lovely.  Trying to be good. (No comforting cake for a while). I'm going to have this thick gloopy tasteless yoghurt called Skyr. & some grapes. Like eating a bowl of bloody glue!!! (Only glue has more flavour). Well bye all. Miss P. I really hope you can conquer your sickness. Hope it won't bring you down. Just think of what the strork should  be bringing you soon! (A lovely wrinkled little alien). When my brothers' triplets were born. They all lokked like ET in blankets. My brother used to take it in turns to change their nappies. He had them all lined up. He took their nappies off one by one. It was so funny. They would each take in turns to wee in his face. They never missed. My bro would need a shower after! I used to say. 'Doesn't that put you off your food?' My bro looked at me with a stern expresdion & said 'not yet!!' Anyway. Good luck Lady P.

Gotta start taking these bloody tablets now... bye all. Hope you are all well. X
