Hi am new to this and hoping I can get some advice.
My husband was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer last June. He is going through strong treatment of chemotherapy (Folfirinox and others) to shrink the tumour with possible hope of surgery. At the moment he is struggling with side effects mostly acid reflux, chemo belly they call this .Is there anything apart from medication that can ease these horrible side effects? Help and advice would be greatly appreciated as am running out of ideas to help my husband.
Hi Piper
My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the end of October and started FOLFIRINOX at the beginning of December. Like your husband the chemo is to shrink the tumour so that surgery can be done.
I'm sorry to read that your husband is struggling with the side effects of this chemo. My husband has had 4 cycles so far, how many has your husband had? He finds the main side effects are fatigue and loose bowels. The latter he's found can be kept under reasonable control by avoiding eating certain foods, eg anything spicy, onions and any vegetables which would have caused digestive problems when he was well. His consultant told him to avoid too much fruit and veg and to try and stick to bland foods, eg pasta, rice, potatoes, bread, etc.
Keep in touch
Anne
