Hi I just got out of hospital for suspected apendicitus - turns out appendix ok but overian lesions turned up on the CT scan one of them was 6.4 cm and I have fluid in my pelvis, I think the pain i was admitted for was completely unrelated - i think i pulled a muscle due to hiatus hernia cough - plus the biggest legion was on my left and my pain was on the right - it was a chance finding i am pretty sure - i am now home but on the two week pathway for ultra sound and biopsy - they did find that one of the clips from my tubal ligation had come away a friend said this might be why there is fluid. I am not in any pain now but i am scared. I have a 15 year old autistic child and i dont know how she would cope without me. Plus i have heard horror stories that overian cancer is usually fatal in 3-5 years. right now I am trying to prepare for worst but hoping for best. They have taken bloods for cancer markers - but I presume i will only get these results at ultra sound appointment . I do have a particularly hairy chin and am fat - so i hope it is something like polysistic overies. I was on a drug for over 12 years - for an unrelated medical condition which raised my prolatain levels and stopped my periods - to my knowlege this drug has not been linked to an increase risk in overian cancer though - i am 47 and have irrelgualr periods now that i stopped the prolactin raising drug .
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I didn't have the type of cancer that you are being investigated for but I do understand how scared you're feeling right now.
I know that you're probably googling a lot, something we're all guilty of going, but if you want to find out more about ovarian cancer then stick to sites like this one or Cancer Research UK as lots of information on the internet is out of date.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that these cysts are not cancerous and do come back and let the group know your results.
