Hi
i have just been diagnosed with Ovarian cancer , it is in my ovaries ,Fallopian tubes , lymph nodes, and a few other places.I have sliver on the liver which they can't operate on . I am due for major surgery within the next 3 weeks. Then Chemo when I have recovered.I am so scared!! I am trying to be strong & fight this thing but frightened for the future.
I only went to the doctors 3 weeks ago with a bit of bloating. Had blood tests which flagged up the Ovarian result.
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
Although I wasn't diagnosed with the same type of cancer as you I do understand how scared you feel right now. Like you, I wasn't expecting the results of my biopsy to come back as cancer and I felt completely numb and shocked at first. However, this feeling will pass especially once you find out what your treatment plan is.
You might like to take a look at this information Macmillan have produced when you've just been diagnosed and I'm also including a link to their information on ovarian cancer.
If you have any questions regarding your upcoming treatment just post your question to this group and there'll probably be someone who can share their experience with you.
When you feel up to it, it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Sending a supportive ((hug))
Hi Maria, you only found out about this three weeks ago, so you are still in shock. I've been living with ovarian cancer for 13 years and it still has the power to floor me. I remember feeling terrified ahead of my own first surgery. I had to face it again this year when I had another this time more radical operation. Chemo afterwards is the recommended pathway - it shrinks what can't be removed surgically, and 'mops up' small deposits. For the time being, I would suggest putting your energy into preparing for surgery. Get well hydrated, simplify your diet, eat well, organise your living space so that everything is tidy (you won't be doing housework for a while!), pay urgent bills, buy slippers and new PJs etc for the hospital. Give yourself this focus so that you are doing something constructive. All the best, Bella.
