I have just started having 6 monthly check ups, how long do I have these and how long before my check ups end or do we have them for life. X
Hi
I didn't have ovarian cancer, so don't know what the normal length of time is for check-ups, but I've found this information for you.
If you're still not sure then you could post your question in ask a nurse, and one of the specialist nurses will respond within 2 working days, or phone your CNS for advice.

Hi Shelley, I think you will find slightly different experiences of monitoring among patients in the UK. The usual pattern is for close monitoring (initially 3, then 6 monthly) for the first 1-2 years. Typically annual checkups after that, involving a clinic appointment, sometimes a physical exam, and usually (but not always) a CA125 test. CT scans are at clinician's discretion after two years, providing we are asymptomatic and our CA125 is within normal range. From everything I've read on ovarian cancer forums, monitoring is for life. All the best, Bella.
