Had an appointment with my oncologist today. My blood markers are down to under 5, had ultra radical surgery last August followed by 6 rounds of chemotherapy. He couldn't believe how well I looked and how well I am doing, he said I have no signs of even having cancer, so ladies if you are going through it please remember that it can be beaten So ladies keep fighting and good luck xx

  • Hi Shelley,

That’s amazing news! And thank you for sharing. It’s always good to have hope- it does help with the battle. I was just discharged from hospital on Friday, 5 years since finishing treatment for stage 3c, so miracles can happen! And there are new drugs coming out all the time. It’s my 46th birthday on May 8th, which by a massive coincidence is World Ovarian Cancer Day, and I’ve asked for donations instead of gifts. Sending huge hugs to everyone on this journey.

That’s great news from both of you. I am stage 3b and just had first 3 chemos. Scan soon to see if surgery is possible. It’s a very scary time but hearing your stories really help. I also have a friend who had radical surgery first, then 6 chemos, and she is ok now, with blood at 5. The worrying thing with mine is the early

CA 125 weren’t raised and still aren’t that high, but have come down a bit. Good luck ladies!

Fantastic news, I'm so very pleased for you Shelley you must be so happy and relieved.

I have my end scan tomorrow and appointment with my oncologist on Thursday, hoping for positive outcomes and that I'm no longer a stage 4 ovarian cancer patient, although I will be having Avastin every three weeks for the coming year.

Here's to all of us fighting this god awful disease.

Dear joy - should you see this I d like to hear how you went on Avastin - I m stage4A and responded well to chemo and had radical hysterectomy done -  Avastin offered to begin with chemo no.5 in may and to continue a year - as yours did.

I do hope it’s been good for you

  • Very encouraging thread to those diagnosed with a higher grade cancer, I am waiting for a follow up app after 6 rounds of carbo/taxol, was diagnosed as stage 3B last year. It's a scary time indeed, good luck ladies x

  • Hi Natalie, thank you so much for your post.  I am also 3c, had four chemo and then surgery on the 2nd April, next chemo on the 9th May.  My CA125 was down at 11 last blood test.

Im feeling great at the moment, recovering fast from the surgery and my surgeon said the operation was 'as good as it gets' and there was no cancer in the omentum, although he did remove it, which is great .

Your message has given me so much hope thank you for posting it.  I will keep my positive mind set and remember your inspirational message.
