Hi all,
So around 3-4 weeks ago I began with horrendous diarrhoea, lack of appetite, nausea and stomach ache really low down, the diarrhoea lasted just over a week then subsided, I assumed it was either a bug or due to my period as I usually suffer with diarrhoea.
Now I'm suffering with really bad bloating, a lot of burping, stomach and back ache, No appetite(which is nothing like me) and nausea. My bowel movements are completely different to my norm and I'm so worried! I've had previous gynae problems so have had an ultrasound before and have never had cysts or abnormalities with my ovaries. Thinking back this isn't the first time I've had these symptoms.
Can anyone give me any advice? I'm booked in for bloods and an ultrasound but now I feel like I'm being a drama queen because the pain is manageble it's the bloating and lack of appetite which worries me!
I'm 27!
Thanks
Hi Chloe36 welcome to the forum and so sorry to hear that you are having issues.
I think you are doing the right thing going for bloods and an ultrasound as these symptoms could be due to lots of different things and you are not being a drama queen at all it is your body and you know whats not right for you and thats all that matters.
I get the sense though that you have convinced yourself that this is something sinister when it could well turn out to be something else. The fear and the anxiety can make our brains go into overdrive.
When is the appointment? Hope its soon for you to get some reassurance re these symptoms. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on we will be thinking of you.
Meantime Im sending some huge big hugs for you. xxxx
Hi Gail,
Thank you for coming back to me! My bloods are on Thursday and not sure when the scan will be, awaiting a call.
I keep going through waves, one minute I feel like cancelling the appointments as I feel silly and then the next I'm convinced it's the worst.
I'm think it's IBS but then there is still that doubt.... I'm a great worrier, I could do it professionally lol! Thank you for the hugs, sending lots back.
Will keep you posted xxxx
Hi Chloe,
I hate to be an alarmist, but I had your exact same symptoms, coupled with terrible weakness.
The bloating made me look like I had swallowed a beach ball, but because of The diarrhoea, I thought I had some kind of infection.
Fortunately, my husband called an ambulance when I started vomiting. I was mortified, but so thankful later.
The A&E doc recognised my symptoms right away.
The bloating turned out to be fluid produced by the cancer, and the fluid (called ascites) filled my abdomen and chest cavity, crushing my lungs, so I couldn't get enough oxygen, and pushed against my stomach and oesophagus so I could hardly eat or drink.
He took blood right away looking for cancer markers, so you need a CA-125 test and any others available.
He sent me up for a CT scan, which revealed I was riddled with cancer tumours in my abdomen, but luckily, not inside any organs.
From there I was well on my way to Biopsy, diagnosis and swift treatment for Ovarian Cancer.
Speed is of the essence.
I hope your doctors find what the problem is and get you into treatment right away.
Best of luck,
Laura
Hi Laura,
Thank you for replying, May I ask how old you are?
We're you experiencing pain? My pains is more of a niggle most of the time but can become very intense at times.
I'm so glad you were diagnosed quickly! Xxx
Hi there,
I am very much older than you. And surprised myself, because, except for this recent catastrophic illness, I have been exceedingly healthy, running my own business, healthy vegetarian diet for 35 years, and having been a model in my youth, believed myself to still be 26 years old.
Shocked to see my name on the hospital discharge papers followed by 71 year old female.
So, thinking young and being old, i am the right age to get Ovarian cancer.
It just never occurred to me that I would ever get cancer.
My mother is 96, has all her marbles, only retired from her job as adjudicator for the LA's Angeles Police Department Internal Affairs 5 years ago. She never got cancer!
So, that said, no, I had no pain, no discharge, nothing except I do remember getting tired earlier in the day, and thought to myself that maybe I was finally feeling my age.
Then one afternoon, meeting a friend at a Starbucks, I suddenly felt unwell, and instead of ordering my usual latte, ordered a yogurt smoothie.
Then I discovered I had diarrhoea and thought I must have the 24 hour flu.
Well that flu went on forever, and I became increasingly thirsty, my mouth like a desert, stopped eating, stayed in bed and could barely walk to the bathroom, began to have a chesty cough, decided I had a bad infection, felt strangely swollen around the middle, but stunned myself when I lifted my nightgown and looked in the mirror.
I looked like I had swallowed a beach ball.
Saw my GP, showed her my bloated stomach, she took my temp, I had one, had bloods taken for diabetes, etc, prescribed antibiotics.
Went home and became so ill, my husband panicked and called the emergency services and the rest is history.
Just felt incredibly tired, breathless, bloated, thirsty, no appetite, and unremitting diarrhoea.
Hope this long winded reply helps,
Laura
Hi Laura,
Thank you for coming back to me, it does really help, apologies for the age question. I'm doubting myself constantly due to my age etc
I'm having my bloods done today and I have a scan a week tomorrow so I'm hoping to find out what' wrong. Fingers crossed it is something simple they can sort out xx
Update.... had blood results back, they only sent for the usual routine blooda, all normal apart from me being borderline diabetic!
Scan Friday but seriously starting to doubt myself now xx
Hi Chloe
Having being diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer 9 months after experiencing symptoms which began with diarrhea then turned to constipation......I self medicated thinking I knew best! I would say have all the tests they offer you. If all is clear, GREAT, if not, then you've taken action early.
I hope your scan proves you to be clear.
Good luck and let us know how things go for you.
Hi Chloe
Don’t doubt yourself better to get it checked out. I was diagnosed in Nov 2016 with an inoperable pelvic tumour (ovarian cancer). I had IBS for years and this can be a symptom. I had pelvic and lower back pain for mths and a feeling of fullness lower down my abdomen. I was 34 when diagnosed

Hi all,
Me again, so I visited this site a year ago after strange symptoms. After tests last year showing nothing strange on ultrasound my doctor dismissed my symptoms as a stomach bug and symptoms seemed to subside. The following September symptoms returned, I thought I had a water infection and attended my GP who advised me to attend a and e due to going on holiday. I went to a and e who did bloods etc and just gave me painkillers. By November my periods had stopped, PMS constantly, extremely tired.... my GP sent me for an ultrasound... they found a separate Cyst (not sure of size the GP wasn't very informative).
Since being told in Jan about the cyst I had CA125 test carried out which came back normal, I saw a gynaecologist in March who decided surgery was best due to me being symptomatic, I'm still waiting for surgery 3 months after being told they found the cyst. I'm in pain most days, im losing my appetite and losing weight and I'm terrified there may be possibility it could be cancer. Am i being dramatic or?
