I have had 4 Sandostatin injections for liver NETs and have been getting awful headaches and nausea, one session lasting 10 days. May be coincidence but was OK before. Has anyone experienced this? On my next scan will have to decide if treatment worth it.
Hi Doreen
Im sorry I’m not able to answer your question but any drug has side effects. I’m not sure you will find the answer here as it’s a very Specialist area. Have you looked at netpatientfoundation.org where I’m sure you will find an answer. If not you could contact the NPF Specialist Nurses who can be contacted by email or the Helpline.
Hopefully you are under the care of NET Specialists and should have the contact details of your own NET Specialist Nurse
Let me know if I can help further
Hi, my husband has Sando injections every 3 weeks. He also gets dreadful nausea, headaches & runny nose that seem to last for days! Needs to be close to a toilet the first 48 hours is a must. He switched from Lanreotide to Sando as that was worse, but everyone is different!
My husband does take anti nausea drugs x 3 daily & strong pain relief which also helps the headaches a bit, but was prescribed for the tumour pains!
Good luck with your next scan
Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. Your poor husband sounds so much worse than me so I will stop moaning! All we can hope for is that the pain and discomfort is worth it in the long term.
Best wishes.
