Medication break periods.

Having been on Pazopanib now for 14 months I’m about to embark on a medication break. What I’m curious to ask is how long do other members on this medication (as many others are I’m on 600 mg/day) take off. I’m about to go on holiday and with my taste totally out of sorts I want to enjoy my holiday food. I have taken a 12 day break earlier this year (April) which was marvellous and I felt really good, but the usual side effects came back soon after going back on my regular dosage. My consultant says a maximum break time of 2 weeks but what do others do, max/ min break times ??

  • Hi , I usually have a break of a week or two. No longer than 2.

I'm currently trying 3 weeks on n 1 off- as suggested by my oncologist.  The 1 week off flew by tho

My max break had previously been two weeks. I had the benefits for about 6 weeks or so, then the side effects returned.
Hmmm - this time 3 months as I had an inflammed bladder. New met. So I wouldn't suggest  3 months ;-)

  • Back from a very enjoyable holiday yesterday in my favourite holiday destination the village of Alykanas in Zakynthos, Greece. I took my medication break that started 4 days before we travelled out there. My taste returned and I fully relished the lovely taste of Greek food. I started back on my Pazopanib on Sunday after 14 days off it but I think my taste will start going downhill once again soon. This holiday has totally refreshed me both physically and mentally and I feel the best I’ve felt for many months.

  • How lovely to hear of your holiday n medication break .

I've recently had one of my regular 1 week breaks. Sadly, I don't think it was long enough.. MInd you,the thought was there lol.

  • I have’nt been on for a while but thought I’de share my experience since taking the break mentioned in this thread. I took a 2 week break from Pazopanib starting on the 21 August and re-started back on Sept 5. Now at the beginning of Oct my taste has steadily declined and today the horrible metallic taste is back. I also had just one bout of diarrhoea yesterday but today nothing. One thing I’ve never had before is red patches of skin have appeared on my upper wrists that have bled a little when scratched (they’ve been a bit itchy) but they are now fading, has anyone experienced this as a side effect ??

I'd an enforced med break from Pazopanib as I was in hospital on some other meds. This was from 24 Sept to present. Haven't had your symptom  on wrists tho
