.y wife is being treated with Cabozantinib for stage four clear cell renal cancer.
She's on 20mg daily and is coping very well. However she appears to have developed an ulcer on her tongue.
I was just wandering if anyone in this group has suffered similarly and has any advice.
From what I have read it can be a side affect. But best to discuss you concerns with the medical team who prescribed it to make sure. In the meantime could use non alcholo mouthwash or salt washes and a soft bristle toothbrush to prevent hard brushing. Hope it settles quickly though, nothing worse than a sore mouth on top of other things.
Try using a milder toothpaste, I use children’s toothpaste, never had a problem since then
My husband is on Cabo and was previously on Sutinib. Mouth damage was common on sutinib so he had unflavoured toothpaste and still uses it. He had also some gelclair from docs which is supposed to help protect and heal.
I hope by now it’s subsided. Really important to keep and eye on possible infections and get them treated.
hope she’s doing ok. You too.

I’m on Suninitib, how long was your husband on it for ?
About 18 month. Started in highest dose but reduced it after a few months. He was on 4 weeks on and 2 weeks break.
hope it is taking care of you
