RCC Metastasis to scalp and treatment plan

After radical nephrectomy in 2023 for RCC to right kidney, I then had 12 months of Pembro. Was doing  well, limited recovery from other ailments although medically retired at 52. Fast forward to 2025 when had 'cyst' to scalp. After paying privately to get it removed in Dec 25 as NHS wouldn't help saying it was cosmetic, it turns out as being RCC cancer same as my kidney. Lump regrowing and Dr's are baffled at this rare occurrence. Has anyone on here had a metastasis to scalp or know of anyone and what was your treatment plan going forward?

Hopefully will get it removed again but given options of having cabo and nivo going forward so I am trying to find out about these as a forever treatment to prevent any other mets.

Any info would be appreciated.

  • Wow.  I don't recall reading of a similar metastasis on here.

Cabo and nivo are immunotherapy treatments, normally known for treating (or even managing) RCC, rather than a preventative measure.  I was on nivo for 2 years.  RCC has been behind other cancers on the adjuvant approach for some time.  Pembro as an adjuvant is relatively new, starting around 2022/3.

  • Thank you for your reply.

I knew it was a long shot but hold out hope someone else has heard of it as the dr isn't sure what to offer me.

I need to do my research on the cabo/nivo to make a decision of accepting them as treatment but hear lots of people having side effects and need to stop taking it.

Thanks again. All the best for your own treatment.
