It all started in February march when got kidney stones in left kidney taken in had scan, found stone but also small cyst on the kidney after several more scans and ultrasound they said about three weeks ago, they believe it to be early stage cancer cells and wants to operate to remove via keyhole surgery, and that should be it, I'm trying not to get anxious but with covid there's a long back log and just concerned longer have to wait the more it will grow and then might have to have other treatment, I know there are people with more severe cases than me but just had to share. I'm not having a very strong day today. Sorry thanks
Hi Hispop, my husband had 2 cysts on his right kidney, turnes out they were cancer and both together messured 30cm, been growing for years. He had op 3 years ago in Oct open surgery, just got the results of his 3rd scan .. all clear, phew. His is Papillary RCC type 1.grade 2. pt2b, leibovich score 4. He's not having any treatment and we think hes been very lucky with them been so big. So what i'm saying i don't think the time frame will make much difference to the out come. Good luck and hope you don't have to wait very long cos the waiting is the worst part of it xx
Hi
Also, kidney cancer tends to b a slow grower, compared with other cancers
Hi, i had an incidental finding in February too, also cystic. Had robotic partial nephrectomy 4 weeks ago. Have been back at work a week, still a bit sore and uncomfortable but coping pretty well. My surgery was 5 hours, not going to lie, the first few days post op were pretty grim but it gets better pretty quickly after that. Still waiting for my grading results etc, not worrying about it too much as there is nothing i can do to influence the outcome. Cystic type tumours are very very slow growing i was told so dont get too hung up on the time frame, just take the opportunity as soon as you get it. Dont apologise, all this is rock and roll, there is no right or wrong way to react or cope. All i can tell you is i had my moments where my head wobbled, im a bonafide coward but the weeks leading up to surgery including the night before and the journey to the hospital i was fine, slept well and didnt dwell on it or panic....cant explain why, im just convinced we all find a way through and you will too. Take it easy and good luck, all you can do is listen to the clinicians and try and remain positive, all the stuff about fighting etc is just bullshit. You will be just fine.
Hi Hispop
Sorry you find yourself here but like everyone else, I think you only have positive things coming your way. I was told that my cancer type RCC - which is the most common of the kidney cancers grows at approx 8mm per year - per year!! I'm actually surprised that your team wat to operate - I think that's fabulous. Long before Covid that would have been a watch and wait for many people.
I hope you've been feeling better again these last few days. It really does sound like you are in the very safest of hands.
Wishing all the very best
Jo
