They got my pathology results back.  Margin is now clear, 38 lymph nodes were removed (only one cancerous one,)  Next is 6 weeks radiotherapy 5 days a week, PEG fitted and then possible 5 weeks chemotherapy, scared stiff!

  • Oh, thanks Mark.  They just told me that the PEG would be, "put in your (my) tummy", but didn't elaborate how, and there was so much to take in that I didn't think to ask how it would be inserted in my tummy.  I daren't Google it (made that mistake before Wink)   It is what it is as they say.  take care.

  • Hi Hazel ,

Yes I had the same from my CNS ,she wouldn't elaborate on the procedure, but said it's best put in prior to treatment . Now I know why ! I get on quite well with my CNS so gave her what for after the fitting !! Still healing at the moment, a week on but a lot better

  • Hi Hazel , have you had your treatment dates confirmed yet?

  • Hi Mark, no, I have a Pre-Treatment meeting on Mon 21st Oct and then I have an appointment with Restorative Dentistry the next day, Tues 22nd Oct and hopefully, I should know a bit more by then.  Take care.

  • Hi Hazel ,

I got my treatment plan at the mask fitting stage, which was after the dentistry app.

Maybe that is what they will do with me then?  They all seem to do things in a different order, but hey, as long as it gets done that's what I think.

  • Your oncologist would have worked out how much RT and how much Cisplatin you are getting already. So hopefully you will be told when they do a simulation. Your mask will be made and marked up then they do another CT to delineate the target. Thankfully I had mine one after the other but some folk here have to return for the second.
Some masks are open faced but others not. If yours isn’t I strongly recommend you ask for eyeholes.
Some of us get a positioning tattoo as well.

  • Hi Dani,

I didn't get the tattoo ,I have too many already!! they just marked the mask I think. I had CT and MRI planning scans with mask on.Mri was the worst as they also wrapped some sort of padded blanket around my head. And it was a 20min scan ,I practiced calm breathing technique which dentician taught me .

    Best wishes Mark
