Hi , can anyone advise me about Durophat toothpaste. i was informed that i would need this toothpaste for the ongoing future, my dentist (Private Partnership) refuses to give me a Prescription for this, and insists on charging me for it. I understand that they are not part of the NHS but surely they should give me a Prescription that i can take to a Dispensary,as i am entitled to Free Prescriptions due to my age . many thanks
likewise.. it was my dentist who referred me.. so no problems on that front.

Most NHS dentists will. So will private ones, it’s just that you have to pay for those.

Hi, my RT team did not mention Duraphat. Only found out about it on here. Asked my GP and was told they didn’t know which one to prescribe and to ask my dentist to prescribe. My dentist is private so that didn’t work though they did give me a Duraphat varnish. Reading this thread I realise I should have been using the toothpaste all of this time ! Does anyone know what specific Duraphat I should ask GP to prescribe and I’ll have another go!
Thx, Lisa

The varnish is extra insurance. Nobody mentioned it to me but I couldn’t use Duraphat for a year so this was the only alternative.
How much is a fluoride varnish on nhs?
Sorry don’t know. There is no such thing as an NHS dentist in Wales.
Management has made more of a mess of the NHS here than they have in England if you could even imagine that.

I don't know if this applies to you... ? or is of any value?
