Hello

Today I was told I had cancer in my lymph node, and this is head  and neck cancer. I am terrified. I am waiting for a date for a MRI and PET scan, so don’t know what type of cancer I have.

  • Congratulations Debbie! All the best for the MRI Thumbsup

  • Yay, you go girl!!! Going to stand you in such good stead for treatment that you are so fit to start with xx

  • Fantastic.  Well done Debbie.

  • Debbie

You have came to the right place...lots of us have been through this treatment...it can be s tough road but all of this is doable...as people have said ... stay away from Google and people telling you about s friend's miracle cure...they mean well but really your consultant and the team know what they are doing...much of the treatment will be beyond your control so I looked for things that I could control... like my fitness...so walking became my focus...also if at all possible be positive...it really makes a difference...it helped my wife and kids get through it with me.

Once you have a treatment plan then you will be on the way to better health.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress

  • Hi everyone, today is second day after my operation. Both tonsils removed, base of tongue removed, biopsy of nasal cavity, and I think oesphagus . Pet scan only showed a faint glow in left tonsil, so they suspect it’s hiding in there. Throat is sore, but I’m managing to eat, only soup snd soft puddings. I’m now hoping they find it in my tonsil, you guys on here everything you told me has been correct, your support has been amazing, and going forward I hope I can support others too x

  • Great you're home. Fingers crossed everything is sorted. Now you have the Olympics to watch while you recuperate. Brilliant timing from your surgeon Slight smile

  • That sounds good.  Keep up with the pain meds even if your body is telling you the pain is lessening - tonsil pain does get worse before it gets better.  10 days and you should be feeling great.  Also keep off things like tomato soup and anything that is slightly acidic...
