PS. Oh and keep off Google. The places to get information is your team, a recognised site such as this one or the Cancer Research Association

Good morning larnaliss, this is my first introduction to the the forum, as I have been trying to deal with my prognosis by myself. However, I feel I have to comment on your blog as I am going through the same journey!
I too have been diagnosed with sinus cancer (46, non smoker, teacher in training ...shouldn’t have it). However, this is what I’ve been dealt and I’m learning to accept it. After 18 months of being told it was polip’s and given numerous courses of antibiotics a savvy doctor referred me last July, after months of not being diagnosed the tumour was removed 7 weeks ago now. The next step in radiotherapy/chemotherapy and after being told the worse case scenario I am scared too say the least.
I appreciate your world has been turn upside down and I get it, cancer was definitely not part of my five year plan. At this stage in my journey all I can say is take one day at a time. This is something that I am really trying too do, it’s hard but all you can do is try... stay strong!

Thanks for this after more scans they can't remove it at this time because of where it is so its straight to chemotherapy next week. I am 47 non smoker and an early years manager. It just doesn't seem fair does it.

  • Hi. It doesn’t seem fair does it? But put your trust in your medical team. Sinus cancer is associated with HPV rather than smoking so it’s just bloody hard luck you got picked on. When I was diagnosed with a different cancer but HPV positive I felt a little better that it wasn’t my fault. Does that sound daft?

I can’t really add much more than maybe take it a day at a time, lean on your friend and family  and come back here where there is a wealth of information and sympathy.
    Best wishes
