Hi all.. I'm still waiting to see oncologist, but my throat is getting sore from constantly having to clear it... I've been prescribed Difflam, but I'm just wondering how the rest of you cope. I see BioXtra is mentioned a lot.
having a weakened immune system due to splenectomy shouldn't be a cause for concern should it?

Without a spleen you are immuno compromised so I would guess you’d have to take special care on chemotherapy but That is a question for your oncologist really.
Can I be nosey and ask why you are missing your spleen?
If my question is inappropriate just ignore me and I apologise

Hi Beau. Having a weakened immune system I would think with chemo you would have to be extra careful. But as Dani says pop it on your list of questions just to make sure they are aware.

Hell! It’s been a challenge for you.
Chemo will be a challenge too but your team will be prepared for it and keep you well.
There’s always a possibility you might avoid it altogether. It adds around 6% to cure rates so on balance it might not be given.
Something else to discuss

Fab! You’ll be right on track and likely know what the treatment plan is and have some dates to focus on.
