Hi guys
been a long day since I got to hospital at 7am this morning. Had my biopsy first after last minute change to the patient list so went down to surgery at 9.15a. Bit of a sudden rush but glad to get it done.
back in room by around 10.30am. All went well, very dry throat and soreness to stomach due to the peg but completely manageable. Had to wait until 5pm to be discharged but not complaining as just being cautious.
Tomorrow I get a call from my nurse at the care centre and go to see her on Friday for my talks. Next week meet the oncologist and I think very soon after treatment will start.
Diagnosis remains T2N2b and HPV positive confirmed today. Covid free.
i hope you are all doing well and look forward to talking with you all.
having lots of hugs from my wife Claire and my son Oliver. My A team. x
Well done Stef I remember when I had my tube fitted it was an overnight stay so you've done well to be home; don't stint with the pain killers (along with the hugs) tonight though, my tube was totally pain-free to start with so I didn't think to take any before bed and woke up in complete agony in the early hours.
Might not happen to you but I'd advise you err on the cautious side.
Metastatic SCC diagnosed 8th October 2013. Modified radical neck dissection November, thirty-five radiotherapy fractions with 2xCisplatin chemo Jan/Feb 2014. Recurrence on larynx diagnosed July 2020 so salvage laryngectomy in September 2020.
Thanks Mike
had paracetamol just before leaving hospital and another two around 10pm tonight. Codeine available if needed but might set alarm for 2am to keep on the paracetamol.
also been taking laxido for the last week in case of constipation and a sore stomach. Fingers x’d it helps.
get to wear my stockings until about Sunday, but doesn’t seem to have the same affect on my wife when the tables are turned!
i won’t be setting a new trend then.

Thank you Beesuit
initially when consultant came in to see me and I asked about the HPV he told me it was negative. Later after the op, he came to tell me all went well, he then told me the HPV was positive so took it as a little bonus even though he says it doesn’t make a great deal of difference.
