Hello
Can anybody advise on easing my husband's open sores on his neck following 6 weeks of radiotherapy?
His GP gave him Flamazine but not helping much.
Thank you!
Did you ask the radio nurse, I was given something just for the open wounds (I didn't have a big problem they were a bit worried about the tracki sight), what do you expect from what you have ie how long do you think it should take to heal. I think the skin is very soft so will take longer than normal. Others will know better though.
Hi there
My hubby’s neck was extremely burned with open sores from week 6 and it lasted 2 weeks.
He used Flamagel whilst having radio and then Flamazine which is for burns victims.
He also had Polymem dressings that absorbed the stuff in his neck. The dressings are very expensive and when we needed more we had to fight with the GP to get them. He used one a day and we made a collar out of them as they showed us how to do this at the hospital. They were £50 for a box of 4.
Theres not actually a lot you can do for him. Ken was on long lasting morphine by this point.
It wasn’t pleasant or pretty but it did pass fairly quickly.
Let me know if there’s anything else you want to ask.
