Hi
Harry is now week 5 and things have really accelerated on the side effects front. About a day or so ago he started with a cough , he thinks saliva has more or less dried up now. For the past 2 nights he has got up about 3am as throat feels like razor blades he says. Still on co codamol which seems to do the trick. He has a bad headache - NO temp though and generally feels crap. He has been on fortisips through rig for about 2 weeks now and after getting his head round it , he actually maintained his weight this week.Though he actually vomited for the first time today.
Looking for any tips Really, looks like the mucus is rearing its head, he doesn't expell it - I think he should, surely this be a factor in the vomiting ? We do have a nebuliser, not yet in use but think it will be very soon.best wishes

Hi Lisa
start niw with the nebuliser, remember yiu don’t always need to use saline , yiubcan use plain boiled water , and more important keep on top of mouth cleaning as oral thrush can soon appear .Re pain killers also make sure he is on top of them nit just when he feels the pain his body will need a constant flow of them. Ie I was on 8x30 mg cocodomol which kept the pain away then when it ramped up added the oramorph.
Also keep him well hydrated
he has done well to get to week without feeling yuck

Plus copious amounts of tissues he really needs to expel the mucus , it’s the throats way of trying to protect itself from the severity of treatment but in copious amounts ,Re dry mouth I know u have xyimelts yiu could try half of one at night I struggled using them during treatment but still use them at night even now
