Hi, I am 8 weeks out of treatment for throat cancer (33 Radiotherapy 5 Cisplatin) and I have constant nasal drip and the dry mouth severely hinders my swallowing this collection of mucous in the throat until it's large enough to cough up and swallow; it wakes me up nights and have to sleep sitting up because of it. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this and if anyone can advise when, or even if, this condition eventually subsides. Cheers.
Hi Jim bob
do you have a nebuliser at all I used mine throughout treatment and for at least 10 weeks after it does he,to thin the mucus .Tip use plain boiled water instead if saline it helps. I was also prescribed carbusistine to dry the mucus up. It does eventually go but then it’s repleced with dry mouth vicious circle I am now 18 month post radiotherapy for tonsil cancer with several affected lymph nodes. I have paid fir private acupuncture to help the dry mouth and I must say for me it has helped. Now I can eat most foods without water ,I do carry water everywhere with me think that’s a permanent Fixture now for me. I do sleep at least 8 hours solidly , I use half an xyimelts every night to aid saliva .
keep in touch I am proof there is light at the end if the tunnel

Thanks Hazel.
I had a nebuliser in hospital but not here at home, will look into that, at least there is the hope from what you say that it will eventually stop. I am planning acupuncture for my dry mouth, good to hear it worked for you. Will check out your blog.
Hi no problems my hospital gave me the nebuliser do wirth asking. With acupuncture I do think if you go with an open mind thinking that it will help you should be ok. It took s while for me to find someone who who do it but glad I did find someone.
Good luck promise there is light st the end of the tunnrl Hazel xx
