Good afternoon

Been a while since I posted on here . Quick ish recap..... my hubby got diagnosed Nov 19 with SCC in lymph node. Tonsils out Dec 19 plus biopsies from mouth taken. Got results 4 weeks later .......

Saw ENT consultant Friday . Primary is retro molar trigone - basically back of wisdom tooth area.  Quite rare from what I have read. Anyone else had this or heard of it ??Staging T2 N1 M0. Already been discussed by MDT last week. Our appointment is this Wednesday where we get to find out treatment options.... Got a rough idea of options . Neck resection being one, this has already been mentioned by consultant . But hey we will see what they say.

Will post back here after our appointment on Wednesday.

Can I just say this group is been invaluable already. Thank you so much. Especially hazel who I have bombarded with messages !!!

  • I had similar

Started off just thinking it was a wisdom tooth problem, it was a bit lower though and more in cheek.

Mine was  T4 N1 mainly because it had spread in to my jaw bone.

If your husbands is only T2 it's hopefully more confined, not in his jawbone and they might just open his neck up to clear it, check his lymph nodes and a course of radiotherapy to mop up anything the surgery misses.

Made it to Christmas, made it to my birthday, had a nice summer, made it to my 2nd (and 3rd) Christmas now writing a blog about my treatment - https://www.1in1440.co.uk/april-2018-you-have-cancer/
  • its a relief that they have found the primary.
At least you can get on with treatment whether it’s surgery or radiotherapy or both.
    Good luck

    Hi

I have already read your blog . Keep eagerly waiting for the next instalment . You have certainly been through it with your all your surgeries. We were hoping to avoid a resection if possible but the more I have read, I think this is unlikely . We will see what they say on Wednesday. They also mentioned this week that there are some 'nodules on his thyroid that might be incidental. He is getting an ultrasound on these on Wednesday. They did say they could have been there for ages but regards of scan results they are going to press on with whatever treatment they have planned.

So we will see. Thankyou for your reply it's much appreciated
