Hi I have Aniond Cystic Carsenoma on the right side of my neck under my jaw bone, I have the surgeon on tuesday. Can any one tell me if it will be day surgery or a few days and how long after it do you start radiotherapy? And dos radiotherapy make you unwell ? I am trying to find my feet just now I feel like I am treding water at the moment as not even seen the consultant yet at the cancer hospital.

  • Hi GG ,im a bit confused as you say you are going in for surgery yet you have not seen the consultant yet as it seems very unlikely they would leave you to fend for yourself. Can you please tell us if the consultant has actually seen you yet and given you a diagnosis, we then might be able to give you better advice. It just seems odd you have not been told. Hope to hear from you shortly , take care.

Your surgeon will go through what might happen. An oncologist will be involved as it will be they who will plan any radio and chemotherapy. This will be done after a few weeks to enable you to heal. Radiotherapy is usually 30 or 35 days split into five days a week with weekends off.
    Good  luck

  • Hi GG, thanks for replying, they will not be doing anything on Tuesday all that will happen is to discuss with you what the next stage is and what treatment plans they might do, it might be surgery or just radiotherapy and chemo or a mixture of both. As Beesuit said please come back and we will try and give you any advice needed. Take care .
