Hi All
I had a Radical Neck Dissection two years ago to remove affected nodes 42 were removed and 29 of those were positive. Thirty radiology & four chemotherapy treatments later, I was doing well.
About two weeks ago a biopsy was carried out on a lump in the other side of my neck which proved to be positive. Today I saw the Oncologist and we discussed what action to take. It was decided that I should undergo another Radical Neck Dissection as they think curing it is possible and I am still fit enough to withstand the surgery. So I am lined up for surgery in December and Radiology & Chemotherapy to start in January.
So for those who have a reoccurrence have faith there is still a light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi Micheal, sorry to hear it has returned I know what it's like when this happens. You are so right in having faith with a positive attitude as I'm sure that's what carried me through. This was 11 years ago so i wish you all the best for your December operation, good luck.
Hi Chris
I had two ops in one. On left side of my neck and on the right side of my neck.( Jan 8th)
Both radical neck dissections, I started my chemotherapy and Radiology treatment today.
I can’t remember from the first time how long the side effects of the chemotherapy kicks in. Any light anybody can shed on the subject?
Cheers
Michael

Sorry Michael I cant help with chemo but I am curious about your radiotherapy.
You had RT two years ago and you are having it again? Is that right?

Hi Micheal, the side effects vary from person to person but I would say about week 3 going through until about a month after. Its a gradual process so hopefully it will not affect you, good luck this time around, best wishes.
Chris
Hi ,
unfortunately I was diagnosed with SCC in February 2017.I underwent chemotherapy & Radiology treatment.
December 2019 I was diagnosed again with SCC, they found two lumps one one each side of the neck. The one on the side of the original Dissection they couldn’t follow up with radiology treatment as that side has already received Radiology during the first op in 2017. I have just started chemotherapy and Radiology treatment.
Cheers
