Hello

I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.

The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.

The change for me is  from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry Heart eyes. I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about?  My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.Grinning

I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!Fingers crossed

What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful Sunny

  • Hello Dean

Here I am again doing a disappearing act, it has been that bad, this will be my 3rd day pottering about, when I say pottering about, about a 1000 steps. What an horrendous 8 days it was even with the reduced dose. I barely made it in for the pump removal!!  Still I am on the mend now and need to focus on steps and food.
It’s my birthday tomorrow but I have already decided to follow the lead of Royalty and have a second one in Sept. Haha I have the Oncologist appointment tomorrow also, I will see what he has to say but I have also made my mind up.

How are you doing, how is work and the upper body coping with it. Have you been out on your bike?

Best wishes Jennie.SparklesYellow heartSunflower doing catch up again Rolling eyes

  • Hi Jennie,

Sounds like you have come to a decision regarding your chemo. I had my 3rd cycle on Wednesday and have been feeling very poorly ever since. Even the tiniest effort leaves me exhausted and in need of a lie down. If I hadn’t already made the decision to forego cycle 4 then I would definitely be making it now.
Sounds like there’s nice weather coming in for the weekend. So hope I’m feeling better enough by then to enjoy it. Happy birthday for tomorrow. I had my 60th last month but my wife and I have already decided that we’re going to call next year’s my 60th as most of her plans had to be cancelled.
Was it last Monday that you received your chemo? Was that #2 or #3?

    Best wishes,

    CB

  • Hello Everyone

Here I am catching up again with how you all are, CB, how are you now after your last round and NO tubes?
Vonn, sorry Andy is struggling with eating, does he get dumping syndrome?
Alasdair, small steps in the right direction, I got a gel cushion for the boney bum.

I had an awful response to round two, even though it dose was reduced, this is my 3rd day feeling ok, slowly increasing food intake, protein protein protein. and my steps. I have the oncologist tomorrow, I will see what he has to say, although I have made up my mind and have given it lots of thought, essentially I felt extremely lucky to get offered the operation, and so fortunate to bounce back from the operation so well,  I have completed two out of four rounds and another I feel will see me back in hospital.
It’s time to think about recovery, quality and some control back.

Some impressive shark attacks been happening, I might share my Bates motel souvenir Joy

    Best wishes all, Jennie SunglassesSparklesSunflower

  • Hi Jennie

Im sorry to hear your having a bad time with the chemo this is something that I’ve got to look forward too.

I’ve found sleeping on the reclining sofa is a great place and a lot more comfortable than trying to sleep in bed while feeding(JEJ) although my wife’s not to happy but it’s only for a few weeks

I’ve decided to try and reduce some of my pain killers ( Gabapentine and Oxycodone) basically the ones that stop me driving so I can get out a little and maybe go away for a couple of days in the Moho before I start my post opp chemo

I hope you and CB start to feel better soon and Thanks for being here you’ve all made my journey so much easier

    best wishes

  • Hello CB

It was last Monday and it was #2, first round I found out was 100%? the nurse checked as I thought it was 75%, round 2 was 75%. Yes I have, with what I have had it will have to be enough, I want to get on now, I want to look forward, at the end of the day we have hope.

Yes the exhaustion is awful, back to step one with the fitness. Yes that is a good plan for the 60th as it is a very special one, I am 65(I think, stopped counting). Planning on going away, Sept 20th as I will have the scan results back, which I believe are arranged 6 weeks after chemo stops, I will confirm tomorrow.

I think my Dr will say no more anyway but I feel it is my decision and I want some control back. Can’t wait to get the pic out and melt the limbo Rofl

The week ahead looks fabulous for blue skies and sunshine

    Take care Jennie SparklesSunflower

  • Hi Jennie

Sorry to hear you have been poorly after latest round of chemo. Sounds like you are realising your body has had enough, that's just how I felt after round 3 post op. My consultant made the decision for me and yours might as well.

I think they know our bodies will only take so much. I have just been for a blood test as still don't feel right and my last chemo was in mid April, hoping it's something they can sort out easily. I believe it can take take several months to recover from end of chemo.

Only worked a few mornings and only one session on bike, maybe I over done it but felt I needed to try.

    Hope you feel better soon

    Best wishes

    Dean

  • Hi CB

It seems you are struggling too after chemo. I'm still not right and my last round was mid April so have had a blood test this morning as they are checking for any deficiency like iron etc. especially as I was anaemic before this all started.

I did try working a few mornings and one session on indoor bike but maybe it was too soon. I desperately want to do charity bike ride in September so hope they can get to the bottom of it quickly.

Hang in there my friend it does get better slowly

    Best wishes

  • Hi Dean
The team here say the 1st year is the hardest, maybe you did over do it? What multi vitamins do you take? You do not have any stomach so maybe you’re not absorbing enough nutrients??

It will be interesting to hear what the Dr has to say but I have already decided, like you say our bodies are telling us also.

Are you watching queens ? Football ?

    Take care, Jennie SparklesSunflower

    • Hi Jen I'd thought I would be watching all of it, the Euros, Queens and Ascot but the chemo has finally caught up with me after round 3!! Hit me like a steam train, nausea, unbelievable tiredness, Pensivediarrhea to name but a few! I was hospitalized at the weekend with seriously high blood sugar levels and AF too. I really thought I'd been coping well but now I'm bedbound and feeling awful with no appetite Pensiveor taste Pensive
