Hello

I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.

The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.

The change for me is  from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry Heart eyes. I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about?  My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.Grinning

I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!Fingers crossed

What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful Sunny

  • Hi Julie

Yes it was more encouraging to get the news that treatment is available and if it works well can manage the cancer to hopefully give me more time.

They said the immunotherapy has had great results, you never know it might just get rid of it, miracles can and do happen

Will definitely keep fighting and stay positive

    Hope you are doing ok

    Best wishes

    Dean

  • Hi Dean

I'm hoping that you've had a date for the start of your treatment the waiting is so hard we know.

Andy has done well this round so far , he's absolutely drained but is coping well with his stomach hopefully this will continue..

You're all doing so well coping with what's thrown at you I admire every one of you that have fought so hard and continue to fight this awful disease.

    Stay strong .

    Love and best wishes

    Vonn

  • Hi Vonn and Andy

No date yet for treatment but they should be in contact next week as they said 2 to 3 weeks at appointment. Just want to get on with it now as I will feel better knowing the chemo is hopefully attacking and killing the cancer.

Really pleased Andy is doing ok at the moment. The fatigue is is so difficult, you just have to rest and listen to your body. We are all in this together so have to keep fighting

Will let you know as soon as I get a start date

    Best wishes

    Dean

  • Hi Vonn and Andy

I’m really pleased to hear that Andy is coping well with the chemotherapy it sounds like he’s doing better than I am

This time around the side effects have mainly been nausea and diarrhoea with a little sickness thrown in for good measure, the nausea has been the worst with acid reflux but I think I’m getting past it now

I don’t know if Andy feels the same but I’m just looking forward to being tube free no PICC line and definitely no JEJ tube it will be wonderful to have a nice hot shower without worrying about these bloody tubes

I hope Andy continues to have a limited side effects and just think number 4 is just over a week away

    Best wishes to you both

    Alasdair

  • Hi Dean

Any news about when your new treatment is going to start and have you had any information on how it will affect you, hopefully the side effects aren’t as severe as with FLOT. I’ve spoken to a couple of patients on the chemotherapy unit at County hospital in Stafford that are on Chemotherapy/ immunotherapy and the say the side effects are not as bad but it’s very tiring

My side effects have started to reduce so I’ll get a week of relatively good sleep before the nausea/sickness and diarrhoea start again after round 4 a week on Tuesday, then hopefully I’ll get shot of the PICCline and this horrible JEJ feeding tube, it will be wonderful to have a hot shower without worrying about these bloody tubes

Best wishes to you my friend

  • Hi Alasdair

No news yet but should be soon they said 2 to 3 weeks at appointment which was nearly 2 weeks ago.

I'm hoping the side effects won't be too bad, tiredness I can deal with it's all the others.

Hope you are starting to get over your latest round I know it's been rough for you. Know what you mean about Picc line etc. it does make showering awkward.

Luckily my next treatment can BA given through a cannula and tablets so shouldn't be too bad.

Hang in there my friend we just have to beat this

    Best wishes

  • Morning Alistair

Hope your weekend has been good with less side effects.

Andy is still doing well this cycle he's totally worn out  but can cope if no sickness and diarrhea.

He's also looking forward to havingvthe pic line removed he doesn't have a JEJ so we can imagine you will be very relieved to have them both removed.

Like you say one to go then uou can both start building yourselves up again . It's definitely been a rollercoaster for everyone.

    Take care Alistair.

    Love and best wishes

  • Morning Dean

Hope you've had a good weekend . and this week brings some news for you.

Andy has done really well so far this cycle. He's totally worn out and said I don't look or feel like me anymore so hopefully we can build him up once he's finished chemo.

Best wishes to you Dean .

    Take care

  • Morning Vonn and Andy

Yes weekend was good thank you, had my daughter and grandson here for a few days so that gave me a lift.

Hope you both had a nice weekend too

Glad Andy is coping ok with the chemo it is very tiring and you don't feel like yourself at all. It's like you are in a dream but wide awake.

I won't have a Picc line this time as it can be given via a cannula and then sent home with tablets. It is a relief when the Picc line comes out as easier to shower and sleep.

I should find out this week when I start treatment. Take care, will keep you updated

    Best wishes

    Dean

  • Morning Alasdair

How are you doing, hope this message finds your side effect ebbing and have a few good days before your LAST round. It is a great feeling when the PIC is done, your J tube will be done with to?
I am continuing to sort! Haha, I will be returning to work on the 23/9, phased return, we are refurbing the office (box room), I feel lucky to work 3 days at home and 1 day in clinic, but I can say when I feel ready to go back in. I am still having dumping and hypos, although these are fewer. I’m thinking of doing a secret shopper as I don’t think my colleagues will recognise me, 3 stone lighter, dark hair and curls! Haha

Your body has done so well with this last hurdle, keep doing what your doing Alasdair.

    Best wishes Jennie. SparklesSunflower
