Hello
I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.
The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.
The change for me is from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry . I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about? My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.
I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!
What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful
Morning Vonn and Andy
How are you both? 3 down, 1 more to go, Andy and his body has done so well to get 3 completed and he sounds determined to do the four. It is such a wonderful feeling having the Pic removed for the last time, I would have had champagne if I could but I still cannot tolerate fizzy, I will one day.
I have nearly finished all my sorting, I am enjoying nice walks, a little swimming, the jacuzzi is the best, feeling healing. I still have numb fingertips, feet and around the R rib area but I do not notice it so much now.
My sister is coming for a visit next week, I haven’t seen her since my diagnosis so she is in for a surprise, 3 stone lighter and dark curly hair!
I hope Andy is feeling stronger with each day, when is the last round booked for? I hope you’re doing ok Vonn.
Best wishes Jennie
Hello Dean
How are you? how is the fatigue? Have you been able to get out and about, indoor bike?
Have you got a start date yet? Sorry bombarding you with questions.
I checked with the Sarong team yesterday and my 6mth check will be mid November, feels like a long way off, it is counted from when they sign you up. I know I have the team though.
I have just completed and E consult for blood tests, I want Vitamins, minerals B12, D and folic added to my annual tests, which should be on my birthday which was back in June!!
Do you take any anti acid meds?
best wishes Jennie
Morning Jennie
No not got a start date yet, it all seems very busy. Just want to get going asap to keep on fighting. My team are chasing it for me so hopefully will know something soon. No not been on bike again as still quite tired.
Not on any anti acid meds as it's just mostly fatigue for me.
Hope you get your other checks sorted out and yes that time will go quickly for your scan
Best wishes
Dean
Hi Jennie,
Sounds like you are doing well. Like you, I still have a little pain around the rib area on right hand side and, if I do too much bending down, I find that I need to take some deep breaths to stretch my rib cage back out again. I’m pretty much eating normally but still have an acid feeling in my stomach most of the day, in spite of the 30mg Lansoperazol twice a day. I have an appointment next week so I’m going to ask about that then. But I’m also up to being able to manage 4 mile walks and 6 mile cycles. Haven’t tried swimming yet but have booked a few nights in a spa hotel in October so will give that a go then. How are you finding the eating going? Hard to believe that we are both nearly 6 months post-op, isn’t it? They weren’t kidding about the length of the recovery time, were they? Keep well, CB

Hi Dean,
I’m sure you are keen for the next phase of your treatment to start ASAP. Hopefully it’ll be kinder on your body than the FLOT. I really admire your determination and fighting spirit, in spite of the setback that you have received. There have been a few sad stories on here recently and I really feel for those who have lost loved ones to this awful disease. But there have also been some success stories and I hope that they give you some encouragement in the battle you are facing. I have everything crossed for you. CB

Hi CB
We chased a few people today and it paid off. I have a scan on Saturday pre chemo/ immunotherapy and awaiting confirmation that treatment will start a week today. It's going to be a tough fight but not giving up. Just hoping this treatment will give me more time and maybe other options at the end of it
Yes too many sad stories on here, it's time we had some positive ones.
Hope you are doing ok my friend, we all need to fight this together
Best wishes
Dean
Morning Dean,
I hope the team can bring your start time forward for you, Hope is what we have and cling too, waiting is just horrible.
It is just scary how many cases of cancer diagnosis seem to be happening, The Oncology dept in Portsmouth covers up past Petersfield and the IOW. Keep pushing them Dean, although I know you should not have to.
I received a text from my GP yesterday for a blood test, I thought, that’s good. I gave them a call to check what the tests were, they just had me down for my Thyroid check!! So I cancelled that and reeled of what I needed checked! They will pass it on to the GP, with my Econsult! I will wait and see what happens, I am thinking of changing but is it, better the devil you know?
Are you getting to enjoy your Garden, I have visions of perfection with you being a landscape gardener Dean, I am going to buy myself a Grandpa weeder tool, after spending time on my knees weedingt the weekend I came up with a sore back and R side, I think
my side is just going to respond in this way for a while if not forever.
Best wishes

Find the Wonderfull in Today
Morning Jennie
After a bit of chasing have a scan booked for this Saturday and awaiting confirmation of chemo starting on Tuesday next week.
Have got pain in abdomen which paracetamol is controlling for now. Consultant gave me Tramadol but reluctant to use it yet as very addictive.
Garden is looking ok my grandson helped me at the weekend.
Hope you can get your tests sorted out. I wouldn't change GP as things will take longer to sort out.
Weather still nice so that's good
Best wishes
Dean
Hello CB
Good to hear from you and also read how well you are doing, 4 mile walks and 6 mile cycles, awesome, that has to be feeling great. Yes 6 months ago, it feels longer.
I met someone who had the Op 3 years ago and they sometimes do breathing exercises, he calls it “the residues” he also gets discomfort around the ribs or just below, still it makes my mind jump. Don’t forget to ask for a print out of your histology report.
I am moving every day now, walking, gym, swimming, the jacuzzi and steam room being the best. Eating is getting better, I still get DS and hypos, if I eat to much throughout the day the last meal can then be uncomfortable, back ache for an hour. A combination of enjoying the meal and to much on my plate, I done it twice this week so I will go back to using my small dishes and plates. It caused acid reflux too, I usually take 30mg of Lansoperazol a day but on those two occasions I took extra. It is still early days, I was told the first 12 months are the toughest.
I will be returning to work on the 23rd Sept, a long phased return, I am looking forward to the mental distraction. We are going away for a week beforehand, practice some mindfulness for those stressful bits.
How are you feeling, fullness still there? have you been able to speak to anyone about it.
Because you are doing more are you finding your energy has increased?
Best wishes
Jennie
Find the wonderful in today
Hello Dean
Good news that your chasing has worked and you will be starting treatment next week. Nice that your grandson helped in the garden.
Sorry to hear you have pain in your abdomen, is it related to the liver met? I preferred Tramadol to the morphine, felt relaxed but also dealt with the pain, morphine did not touch the pain for me, just made me high!!
Take care Dean x
