Hello
I have my last FLOT tomorrow, 4 in all, I have also have 2 rounds of Carbo and Etoposide. I have my CT scan on the 1st Feb as they plan is to operate so I have fingers and toes crossed they I will still be on this pathway.
The Flot has been tough as people say, the Oxy-legs were terrible!! the two week turn around has given me about 3 days of normality. I would like to thank those that offered side effect advice as it really helped me to be proactive with the Meds.
The change for me is from Oct to early December I was not able to eat food, shakes only. I am now eating normally, I have attempted spicy food, like a curry . I find I need to eat more often or I get like an empty discomfort, not sure what that's about? My sternum feels sore sometimes also? fingers crossed these are gastral related to the growth but I guess it must of shrunk as I can eat.
I am so looking forward to some weeks without Chemo but also apprehensive, it will be back to that waiting place, and this is it, which pathway? I wish I had not been told IT was high grade, this bit really sticks in my head!!
What lovely blue skies I have in the south at the moment, beautiful
Morning Vonn and Andy
Hope you saw my latest post in that I have some better news and a glimmer of hope.
I believe Andy has next round today so hope that goes ok
I should start my immunotherapy/ chemo before the end of the month and will keep on fighting
Best wishes
Dean
Morning Vonn and Andy,
Heres hoping the 3rd goes well with any side effects, Andy has done so well to get this far.
Oh my a Chief, surrounded by food!! If Andy has any taste changes mine have now come back, probably 6 weeks after the last Chemo. Andy needs to stay away from any heavy lifting at work, the brain tells me I am fine untill my insides say no you are not! But I have learnt.
The sorting is good, it is probably linked to taking back control, I have had 11mths out of it.
It was so good getting rid of the paperwork and letters and handing over all the drugs to the pharmacy. For me the biggest thing has been my wardrobe, I have gone from a size 18/20 to a 12/14.
It does take a long time to recover physically, so Andy will need the time like you say to build his strength back, I want to feel mentally strong also, able to handle stress loads.
Take care, positive hugs for those side effects
Jennie
Morning Dean
We were so pleased to hear your latest news what a relief for you and your family so happy for you the fight goes on.
Andy had his 3rd chemo yesterday so currently waiting for the side effects his oncologist asked if he wanted to stop now or reduce the dose but he decided to keep going as he feels the side effects are manageable.
I was disappointed to hear there would be no follow up scan this worries me as he had no symptoms this time it was diagnosed through a blood test . Well have to ask some questions after the chemo.
Enjoy your day and we hope your treatment starts ASAP.
Best wishes
Take care
Vonn + Andy

Morning Jennie
Thanks for the message with helpful tips xx
Andys chemo yesterday went ahead as his bloods had improved thank goodness .they called the oncologist as he had chest pains but they soon eased . She asked if he wanted to stop at 3 sessions or to reduce the dosage but he's keen to complete .
He had a good sleep and feeling good today he'll stay in bed as really wants to go to the world firework championships in Plymouth tonight , our daughter with drive us over and sit in the car to watch .
I was disappointed to hear there would be no follow up scan she said after 4 you're potentially cured ( don't feel confident about that although ,Andy is happy ) he's on the sarong trial but the one that doesn't scan , I'm sure all will be OK.
Andy is doing better with his taste than he did pre surgery so hopefully that will continue,.
I'm sure you enjoyed the clothes shopping that's a big size change .Andy has lost 2 1/2 stone . The dietician came around to talk about the weight loss so I have to encourage him to try more snacks as you know thats not easy when your tummy feels full all the time. She also talked about the vitamins he should have been prescribed so he can start on them now we have the prescription.
I'm sure it felt good sorting everything out and getting rid of the memories .
Looks like a nice day so enjoy the sunshine .
Love and best wishes

Hi Dean. So pleased you have been given more positive information and the knowledge that there are options now and that is wonderful. I wasn’t sure, but I assumed that they must have found the cancer early which is definitely something to be thankful for. Keep on keeping on. Best wishes, Julie
Hi Dean
I'm glad the oncologist was able to give you better news yesterday. Good that it's been caught early and that immunotherapy is available to you. You've already proven yourself to be a real fighter and you can get through this too.
Take care,
Amanda
Morning Dean
I meant to reply to you yesterday but unfortunately the nausea and diarrhoea have returned with vengeance and I haven’t really been out of bed much apart from visiting the bathroom anti sickness drugs are helping a little and thank god for Imodium.
I’m really pleased that you managed to see your original oncologist and they’ve got a treatment plan in place for you I’m keeping everything crossed that this chemotherapy/ immunotherapy is going to work for you especially after everything you’ve been through already it’s just not fair. This disease is horrible to everyone that it touches and the sooner they find a cure the better
I’m also glad that your being really positive about it, I know slot of people would probably just throw the towel in and give up but from what I’ve read in this community I don’t think your that type of person Well done to you please keep it up you’ve been a god send to a lot of people on here and I’m one one them
Thanks Dean my good friend and Best wishes for our futures
Alasdair
Hi Amanda
Yes it was better news, at least it gives me some hope. I know they can't cure it but if it can be managed for as long as possible that would be something
Will definitely keep on fighting and stay positive
Best wishes
Dean
Hi Alasdair
Sorry to hear you are having a bad time with the diarrhoea and sickness I know too well what that is like. Hope it settles down soon.
Yes I feel a bit more hopeful now that this treatment will work and give me more time. They said they cannot cure it but if it can be managed that would be something.
I will never give up and will fight as much as I can and always be here for as long as I can to support others. We are all in this together and if we all help each other we can beat this horrible disease
Hope you feel better soon my friend. Let me know how you are when you can, it's not easy when you feel rough so only when you feel up to it
Best wishes
Dean
Hi Vonn and Andy
Glad Andy could manage his latest round of chemo well done to him because it isn't easy.
I am on the SARONG trial and luckily had a scan 3 weeks ago that picked up this latest problem hopefully early enough to get it under control.
If they can't offer a scan after treatment maybe there are other tests that can be done regularly to see if cancer has gone
Unfortunately it seems some trusts just don't have the funds to offer scans and they are very expensive.
My treatment should start before the end of the month
Best wishes to you both
Dean
