Oesophageal cancer spread to Lymph Nodes

Hi all,

I'm after a bit of advice. My Dad was diagnosed late 2019 with Oesophageal cancer. He had four rounds of chemo and had the tumor removed March 2020, we were told he may need another round of chemo after but this never happened. Since the Tumor has been removed he has been doing so much better, he was previously struggling to keep food down and now is able to eat almost anything. He has put on weight and is a lot more active, all in all feeling quite good in himself.

A few months ago he had to have a PET scan and CT scan, I'm assuming this is normal after tumor removal to see where we are at? Only about a week or so ago we got the results which showed lymph nodes where 'lit up' all over his body. We have a telephone consultation this friday to discuss this further, we know he will have to have more chemo but that's about it.

I'm worried we are only going to be offered palliative care and this may be the end of the road? I'm not even sure what I'm asking really, has anyone else experience this and was there a light at the end of the tunnel? I feel as though he's been through so much and is looking and feeling a lot better than he has done in a good year or so and now this could be it. We will know a lot more Friday I hope, just reaching out as feeling very deflated and disheartened by the situation.

Thanks

Hannah
